ACCOUNTING MANAGER

About the RoleWe are seeking an AI-native Accounting Manager to run day-to-day accounting operations for a family office, including investment operations and property operations. This is not a traditional accounting seat. The person in this role will own the general ledger and close process across multiple entities while adapting, iterating, and growing a modern, AI-assisted accounting function and agentic workflows as their primary working environment, not as an occasional tool.The ideal candidate coordinates with external accounting providers and the team, and serves as the primary in-house accounting resource across the organization.The ideal candidate is equally strong in accounting fundamentals and accounting technology: rigorous on GAAP, reconciliations, and controls, and genuinely fluent in working with AI systems understanding what they can do, where they fail, and how to build reliable processes around them.AI-Native Accounting OperationsThis is the defining feature of the role. Candidates without hands-on experience using AI in real financial workflows should not apply. In this role, you will:Work and continue to build around the office AI Workflows daily. Use and monitor the agents, connected directly to QuickBooks and related systems via custom MCP integrations, as the primary interface for reconciliations, flux and variance analysis, close checklists, and first drafts of reporting and management commentary.Understand the data plumbing. Know how AI systems ingest accounting data and how the sources interconnect QuickBooks, Bill.com, Expensify, Gusto, Monday.com and understand the limitations: where model outputs must be verified against the ledger, where integrations break, and where automation should stop.Understand the workflows, not just use them. Design, document, and continuously improve new and existing agentic workflows for recurring processes monthly close runbooks, AP triage, intercompany reconciliation, variance narratives so the accounting function gets more leveraged over time.Keep a human-in-the-loop control mindset. Treat every AI output as a draft requiring review. Maintain audit trails for AI-assisted work and recognize that internal controls matter more, not less, in an automated function. Every number that leaves this desk is verified by a human.Push the frontier. Evaluate new AI capabilities, financial tooling, and integrations as they emerge, and decide with judgment what belongs in the workflow and what does not.Candidates should expect a hands-on working session as part of the interview processKey ResponsibilitiesAccounting OperationsOwn the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process across multiple entities.Prepare and review financial statements, budgets, cash flow forecasts, and management reports.Record and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and intercompany transactions.Maintain accurate general ledgers and ensure financial reporting integrity.Monitor liquidity and cash flow across entities and coordinate funding needs.Assist with special finance projects as requested.Financial Systems, Technology & Cash ManagementServe as the internal expert for QuickBooks Online and related accounting platforms, owning the integrations between QuickBooks and connected financial applications (Bill.com, Expensify, Gusto, Monday.com, and future platforms).Evaluate and implement new financial technologies that improve efficiency and internal controls.Monitor weekly treasury balances and cash flow requirements, and coordinate capital calls, transfers, and banking activities.Financial Reporting & TaxPrepare and audit the agentic cadence of financial reporting packages for executive review.Produce class-level across multiple agentic entities.Review and become the human in the loop for agentic executive dashboards, KPI reports, variance analyses, and cash flow projections.Prepare data requests for tax filings, and ensure timely payment of taxes and filing obligations.What Success Looks Like in Year OneThe close cycle across all entities is documented as an AI workflow in a SharePoint runbook that runs measurably faster each quarter.Reconciliations, AP workflows, and reporting drafts run through agentic workflows you built, with clear human review points.The executive reporting package is produced on a reliable monthly cadence, with AI-drafted, human-verified narratives.Coordination with external providers is smooth, with clear ownership boundaries.QualificationsRequiredBachelors degree in accounting or finance.QuickBooks Online experience.Experience managing accounting for multiple legal entities.Experience managing monthly close processes at either Big 4 and/or family offices.Demonstrated hands-on fluency with AI tools LLMs and agentic workflows applied to real financial or operational work, not just casual use.Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Preferred, but Not RequiredDirect experience with AI, MCP integrations, or building agentic accounting workflows.CPA designation.Masters degree in Accounting or Finance.Family office, investment management, private equity, or fund accounting experience.Experience with Bill.com, Expensify, Gusto, and Monday.com.Experience leading accounting process improvements and digital transformation.French language skills are a plus.Compensation & BenefitsPay: TBDBenefits Dental insurance Health insurance 401(k) Paid time offWe are committed to fostering a diverse, equitable, and inclusive workplace.
