Electrical Project Engineer

Project EngineerWe are seeking a motivated Project Engineer to support the planning and execution of large-scale commercial electrical construction projects throughout the Detroit metropolitan area. This is an excellent opportunity for a construction professional with electrical contracting experience who is looking to build a long-term career and advance into Assistant Project Manager and Project Manager roles.The Project Engineer will work closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, and field leadership throughout all phases of construction. The role provides hands-on exposure to procurement, scheduling, cost tracking, project documentation, BIM/VDC coordination, and field operations.Projects may include hospitals, healthcare facilities, universities, industrial facilities, institutional buildings, and other complex commercial developments.ResponsibilitiesSupport commercial electrical construction projects from preconstruction and project kickoff through completion and closeout.Prepare, track, and manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, transmittals, procurement logs, and closeout documentation.Review electrical drawings, specifications, contracts, scopes of work, schedules, and other project documents.Coordinate with Project Managers, Superintendents, Foremen, electricians, subcontractors, vendors, suppliers, and general contractors.Track material procurement, equipment deliveries, long-lead items, and critical project milestones.Assist with project schedules, cost tracking, forecasting, billing, budgets, and financial reporting.Participate in project meetings, jobsite visits, and field coordination meetings.Work with BIM/VDC teams to identify coordination issues and develop practical installation solutions.Maintain accurate project logs, meeting minutes, reports, correspondence, and document control.Assist with material takeoffs, procurement planning, and project planning as needed.Help identify and resolve field issues, procurement challenges, scheduling conflicts, and coordination problems.Support Project Managers with change order documentation, cost tracking, and forecasting.Coordinate with field leadership to ensure crews have the drawings, materials, information, and resources needed to maintain production.Assist with punch lists, commissioning documentation, project turnover, and final closeout.
