About the Role
The Company is seeking a Vice President (VP) Controller to join their team. The VP Controller is a key leadership role with a primary focus on the accuracy and integrity of the financial operations and controls. This hands-on position involves leading the accounting department, ensuring the maintenance of internal controls, and protecting organizational assets. The successful candidate will be a strategic financial leader, providing insight to senior management, and will be responsible for a wide range of financial activities, including financial analysis, cash management, and general ledger account reconciliations. The role also requires the VP Controller to be a subject matter expert on technical accounting matters, manage and train accounting staff, and oversee the development of financials for management and regulatory purposes. Candidates for the VP Controller position at the company should have a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, with a preference for a CPA license. A minimum of 7-10 years of progressive accounting leadership experience in a credit union or bank is required. The role demands a professional with in-depth knowledge of GAAP, the credit union industry, and related accounting principles. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of inspiring and leading teams, strong analytical and communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities. Experience in financial analysis, performance management, and a thorough understanding of federal and state financial regulations are essential. The VP Controller will also be expected to collaborate with other leaders, drive continuous improvement, and support the CFO on various projects.
