Med-Surg Registered Nurse (RN) in Kernersville, NC

Exciting opportunity for an experienced RN with strong MedSurg and telemetry skills to provide high-quality care on a transitional care unit within a renowned academic medical center. This contract position features a 20-bed inpatient environment caring for patients with a range of diagnoses, including CHF, COPD, kidney/liver/respiratory issues, CIWA, wounds, infections, and occasional general surgery cases.


Schedule:

• Night shift: 18:30 - 07:00
• Every other weekend required
• 50% of holidays within contract term
• Up to 7 days of approved time off
• 6-week schedule cycles

Qualifications:

• Active RN license
• Minimum 2 years of MedSurg experience (required)
• First-time travelers not accepted
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications
• Proficient in trach and chest tube care, IV starts, wound vacs, drain management, dressing changes, central line blood draws
• Strong cardiac rhythm interpretation skills (competency check off required)
• Experience with non-titrating drips: Heparin, Lasix, Protonix required; Cardizem and Amiodarone preferred (will train if no prior exposure)
• Familiarity with EPIC EMR, Alaris IV pumps, and Omnicell medication dispensing a plus

Responsibilities:

• Deliver comprehensive care to a diverse adult patient population on the MedSurg/Tele unit
• Collaborate with charge RN, CNAs, hospitalists, residents, respiratory therapists, and other team members
• Potential floating to units within scope as needed
• Perform blood draws and lab collection, wound care, monitoring, and medication administration
• Document care using EPIC; monitor patients using bedside and central station telemetry
