DevOps Engineer

Blackstone Talent Group is seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer to join our client's team. This job requires an active DoD secret security clearance. Overview Seeking a Software Engineer III to support the development and maintenance of scalable DevOps solutions, CI/CD pipelines, and automation capabilities supporting a large enterprise mission environment. This role is responsible for implementing reliable software delivery processes, enhancing system performance, and developing automation solutions that improve operational efficiency across a complex networked infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have experience with modern DevOps practices, software development, infrastructure automation, and enterprise-scale deployment environments. Responsibilities Design, build, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines using tools such as GitLab and Jenkins. Develop and maintain software applications and automation solutions using Python, Java, Bash, and PowerShell. Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and Software Defined Networking (SDN) solutions to support enterprise-scale environments. Create and maintain technical documentation including architecture diagrams, pipeline documentation, configuration guides, and operational procedures. Develop automation scripts and services to improve deployment, monitoring, and operational workflows. Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to build systems, CI/CD pipelines, software deployments, and cloud-based environments. Collaborate with software, systems, and infrastructure teams to improve reliability, scalability, and deployment efficiency. Develop, maintain, and present KPIs, operational metrics, and performance reports. Support software deployments and critical operational activities, including occasional evening or weekend work when required. Participate in Agile development activities and contribute to continuous process improvement initiatives. Required Qualifications 3+ years of experience in software engineering, DevOps, automation, or related technical disciplines. Active Secret Security Clearance. DoD 8140 compliant certification (Security+, SSCP, CISSP, GSEC, CISA, or equivalent Experience developing software using Python and Java. Experience creating automation and scripting solutions using Bash and/or PowerShell. Understanding of object-oriented programming concepts. Experience integrating and consuming REST APIs. Experience with Git-based source control systems such as GitLab. Experience building, maintaining, or supporting CI/CD pipelines utilizing DevOps best practices. Understanding of Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) methodologies and Agile development practices. Experience troubleshooting software, infrastructure, or pipeline-related issues. Strong communication skills with experience producing technical documentation and presentations. Ability to work effectively both independently and within collaborative engineering teams. Preferred Qualifications Experience developing operational metrics, KPIs, and reporting dashboards. Experience with cybersecurity practices including vulnerability management, monitoring, and remediation. Experience with automation and IaC tools such as Terraform, Ansible, and VMware Aria. Knowledge of networking fundamentals and network device configuration. Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker. Exposure to Kubernetes or other container orchestration platforms. Experience working with cloud platforms including AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
