Home Infusion Registered Nurse

Location: 603 MONTROSE AVE, SOUTH PLAINFIELD, NJ 07080 Position: Infusion RN Type: Part-Time, Day Shift, Home Infusion Department Pay Range: $35.77 - $41.40 per hour Job Overview Our part-time Home Infusion RN provides direct care to clients in their home. They instruct and supervise the client and/or significant other in the safe administration of therapy, safe storage, disposal of supplies, side effects, and supervise and evaluate during therapy. They start, restart, and maintain IV access devices, and remain familiar with pumps, supplies, and access devices. Qualifications Current licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse in New Jersey. Completion of an IV certification course. Previous home infusion experience. Successful completion of all orientation programs. Ability to lift patients and equipment. Must be able to perform and fulfill on‑call requirements. Preferred: PICC certification and chemotherapy certification. Scheduling Requirements Part‑time employment of 22 hours per week. Eight‑hour shifts, three days a week (must be available for a Monday or Friday shift). Work performed in private homes. Potential exposure to biomedical/hazardous waste and puncture wounds; exposure to all climates. Participates in on‑call coverage two days per month, including one weekend every two months, and on‑call one holiday. Essential Functions Communicate with patients, families, nursing personnel, and medical staff to coordinate care. Call patients the night before visits to schedule appointments. Notify patients promptly if running late. Arrange with pharmacy for supplies and pick‑up of sharps containers. Arrive to work on time and complete assignments. Attend continuing education presentations to keep certifications current. Communicate with Nurse Manager or Nursing Supervisor daily to ensure care continuity. Leave daily reports and communicate with physicians regarding client response to therapy. Complete UORs, time sheets, and expense vouchers within appropriate time frames. Conduct initial assessment, evaluation, teaching, and documentation, returning it to office within one week of visit. Educate patients/caregivers on therapy administration, side effects, complications, and equipment use. Follow infection control guidelines and waste disposal per CDC recommendations. Follow policy and procedures. Maintain vehicle safety while using cell phone, using hands‑free device, obeying local ordinances. Obtain physician orders for discontinuing therapy if appropriate, generating orders in chart. Recognize inappropriate assignments to home infusion therapy and notify appropriate persons. Remain knowledgeable about therapy procedures, side effects, adverse reactions, precautions. Report to Nurse Manager any conditions compromising patient care. Assess patient rights, consent, fall assessment, medication review, and complete patient profile. Schedule initial visit to coincide with first scheduled home dose and check patient identifiers. Understand and adhere to company policy and requirements. Be willing to cross‑train or assist in other areas, and help co‑workers when appropriate. Be flexible to work alternating schedules on short notice and support management.
