Overview:

A mission-driven nonprofit organization is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to lead day-to-day financial operations and support organizational leadership. This role will oversee core accounting functions, financial reporting, and compliance, while helping to ensure the long-term financial health of the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee daily accounting operations including general ledger, AP/AR, payroll support, and bank reconciliations
• Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
• Monitor financial performance and provide analysis, reporting, and recommendations to leadership
• Support budgeting and forecasting processes, including program-level budget tracking
• Ensure compliance with nonprofit accounting standards (GAAP) and grant requirements
• Coordinate and manage the annual audit process , serving as the primary liaison with external auditors
• Develop, implement, and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls
• Partner with leadership to evaluate financial results and address program deficits or funding gaps
• Support and oversee grant-related financial activity , including reporting and compliance
• (If applicable) Provide guidance and oversight to accounting staff

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience , preferably in a nonprofit setting
• Prior experience in an Accounting Manager, Finance Manager, or senior-level accounting role
• Strong understanding of GAAP and nonprofit accounting principles
• Experience with financial reporting, budgeting, and audit coordination
• Exposure to grant-funded environments is strongly preferred
• Proficiency with accounting software (QuickBooks or similar) and Excel
• Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills
