The salary range for this position is $17.25 - $25.01 (Hourly Rate). Placement within the salary range is dependent on several factors such as relevant work experience and internal equity. Description This is a casual (non‑benefited) position located at Northwestern Medicine Catherine Gratz Griffin Lake Forest Hospital. The role does not have a set schedule or a minimum number of hours per week. The Supply Chain Specialist I, Logistics reflects the mission, vision, and values of NM, adheres to the organization’s code of ethics and corporate compliance program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and all other regulatory and accreditation standards. The Specialist performs daily activities within the Supply Chain team, including inventory ordering and replenishment, receiving, equipment, linen, and mail. The role meets and exceeds key process indicators, provides input on inventory level analysis and process improvement initiatives, and assists with communication within the department and with clinical staff. Responsibilities Follow standard work and methodologies around inventory, receiving, equipment, linen, and mail. Utilize standard processes within WaveMark and PeopleSoft to maintain data integrity. Resolve non‑complex situations involving technology, customers, staff, and other supply chain personnel. Ensure compliance with policies and procedures through daily activities. Assist with special projects as required. Sustain support of MDI and daily huddles. Order and deliver supplies and linens to user areas based on par level; identify stock shortages and notify management. Conduct routine audits of supplies, linen, and equipment to ensure inventory accuracy and compliance with par levels. Document discrepancies, expirations, shortages, or overstock; communicate findings to management and support corrective actions. Answer incoming calls from users identifying supply needs. Maintain a clean and safe work area. Promote safety in the workplace and report hazards. Notify supervisor of equipment needing repairs. Communicate issues to supervisor, including inability to complete schedule and deficiencies. Establish and maintain relationships with hospital personnel while ensuring confidentiality of patient information. Use organizational and unit resources efficiently. Manage work schedule efficiently, completing tasks and assignments on time. Contribute to continuous improvement opportunities. Participate in efforts to reduce costs, streamline processes, and improve services. Present a friendly, approachable, professional demeanor. Provide accurate information and timely updates to patients and customers; address questions promptly. Offer directions or help to patients and customers finding their way. Use service recovery skills to resolve problems when they arise. Show teamwork by helping co‑workers across departments. Communicate effectively, respecting diverse opinions and acknowledging contributions. Qualifications Required High school diploma or equivalent; or a minimum of two years of relevant work experience in lieu of a diploma/GED. Ability to follow oral and written instructions. Effective communication with patients, visitors, and staff. Computer literate; ability to learn various programs. Ability to work independently and respond quickly under pressure. Good organizational skills. Critical thinking ability. Preferred Two years’ experience in a hospital or healthcare environment. Associate’s degree in a related field.
