Position Overview Child Care Specialist – Preschool and Infant/Toddler Care (Milwaukee Downtown, part‑time, 0‑19 hrs/week, academic year). Responsible for providing early childhood development support in a childcare setting. Responsibilities Childcare Room Oversight & Activity Planning – Monitor activities, prepare developmentally appropriate activities, provide support, indicate when student teachers present. Child Interaction & Support – Respond to children’s needs, observe stress signals, notify supervisor of concerns. Room Setup & Supply Management – Maintain order, manage supplies, ensure safe, stimulating environment. Recordkeeping & Outreach Support – Maintain records, inventories, prepare reports, coordinate parent conferences, assist outreach during events. Ethics and Confidentiality – Uphold honesty, confidentiality, address behavior respectfully. Collaborative Teamwork – Build positive relationships with staff, children, parents, practicum students, and instructors. Continuous Learning & Professional Development – Stay current with best practices, attend trainings, workshops, professional associations. Other Duties – Perform related duties as required. Required Education & Experience Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education or related field, or 60 college credits with at least 6 credits in Early Childhood Education. 1–3 years progressive experience in a childcare setting. Minimum age 18. Preferred Education & Experience Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education. Infant and Toddler coursework. More than 3 years experience in childcare. Required Licensure/Certification CPR/AED/First Aid within six months of hire. Abusive Head Trauma/Shaken Baby Prevention Certificate. Mandated Reporter Training Certificate. Preferred Licensure/Certification Registry Level 12. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Child development stages and best practices. Health and safety standards knowledge. Alertness to prevent injury. Implementation of age‑appropriate programming. Effective discipline and room management. Problem‑solving skills. Fast‑paced environment adaptability. Excellent communication, oral and written. Start Date & Hours Start: Fall 2026 (mid‑August). Hours: Up to 40 hours weekly, primarily weekdays, flexible to meet department needs. Work must be performed in Wisconsin.
