Description

As a Lab Tech 2, you will perform laboratory tests on soils, aggregates and HMA, prepare reports, and collect samples from jobsites and plants for a wide variety of transportation projects.

What are the core responsibilities for the role?

• Work within a team of construction managers, office managers, inspectors, and contractors to successfully complete the construction of projects
• Perform field sampling and testing, and perform laboratory testing per UDOT, AASHTO and ASTM and other agency procedures and processes
• Complete test reports and documentation per UDOT and other agency requirements for all testing performed
• Work alongside UDOT construction crew or other agency construction management personnel in an augmentation role
• Assist younger technicians to complete tasks

Qualifications, Skills, and Competencies:

• Certification under American Concrete Institute (ACI) as Concrete Field Testing Technician - Grade I required or UDOT equivalent
• Certification under WAQTC guidelines for Sampling and Density (SRDTT)
• Other Certifications through UDOT are preferred
• Solid organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Ability to interact with clients and multi-discipline team members.
• Willingness to work on projects locally and travel between labs daily
• Willingness to work either day or night shift depending on construction schedules
• Outstanding interpersonal and customer service skills
• Must be comfortable and efficient with enter test results into required databases
• 4-6 years of experience
