Position Overview
The Construction Equipment Technician / Mechanic is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining construction and jobsite equipment that supports industrial and commercial construction operations.
This position offers hands-on experience with a diverse range of equipment, mechanical systems, hydraulic components, and electrical controls. The ideal candidate is safety-focused, mechanically inclined, and committed to delivering high-quality work in a fast-paced environment.
What You'll Do
- Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and operational equipment issues
- Perform preventative maintenance, inspections, and scheduled service
- Troubleshoot equipment performance concerns and determine root causes
- Repair and maintain construction and jobsite equipment
- Inspect equipment to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation
- Complete maintenance records and repair documentation
- Support equipment readiness for active construction projects
- Repair and maintain diesel, gasoline, and LP-powered equipment
- Work closely with operations teams to prioritize equipment needs
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safety-focused work environment
- Follow manufacturer recommendations and company maintenance standards
- Promote safe work practices and equipment reliability
Equipment You'll Support
This role offers the opportunity to work on a wide variety of construction and jobsite equipment, including:
- Dozers and earthmoving equipment
- Telehandlers and material-handling equipment
- Forklifts and industrial lift trucks
- Boom lifts, scissor lifts, and aerial work platforms
- Personnel lifts and man lifts
- Concrete screeds and concrete placement equipment
- Utility vehicles, golf carts, and side-by-sides
- Diesel, gasoline, and LP-powered equipment
- Hydraulic systems and components
- Electrical systems and controls
- Small engines and specialty construction equipment
- Jobsite support equipment and tools
No two days are exactly alike. This position provides the opportunity to continually expand your knowledge while working on a broad range of equipment and technologies.
Qualifications
Required
- Experience repairing heavy equipment, construction equipment, industrial machinery, agricultural equipment, or related mechanical systems
- Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
- Working knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems
- Ability to work independently and manage priorities effectively
- Strong commitment to safety and quality workmanship
- Valid driver's license
Preferred
- Experience working on aerial equipment, telehandlers, or material-handling equipment
- Hydraulic troubleshooting and repair experience
- Diesel engine maintenance experience
- Welding and fabrication experience
- Basic personal mechanic tools
- Chauffeur's License or willingness to obtain one

Work Environment
This position is primarily based in a maintenance shop and equipment service environment and may include:
- Indoor and outdoor work conditions
- Exposure to changing weather conditions
- Work around heavy equipment and moving machinery
- Exposure to noise, dust, grease, and construction environments
- Overtime opportunities during peak operational periods
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, and work in various physical positions throughout the day
- Ability to safely operate tools, equipment, and machinery
- Ability to lift and move tools, parts, and equipment components
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation
- Ability to work safely around heavy equipment and active work areas
