O&M Specialists provide direct or consultative special education services related to vision loss to parents, school staff, student peers, and the community. Qualifications Required Education: Bachelor’s Degree or higher from a regionally accredited institution Licensure: Special Services Provider License: Certified Orientation and Mobility Specialist; ACVREP COMS Certificate is required for the initial CDE licensure as an O&M Specialist Supervisor: Executive Director/Director of Special Education Days: 1-3 Hours/month for the duration of the 2026-2027 School Year Compensation: $75-$120/hour (based on qualifications and experience) Status: Non-Exempt Working Conditions: Heavy lifting; travel to Buena Vista, Colorado and surrounding areas, including possible overnights; flexible schedule; assist students with ambulation Benefits: Colorado PERA eligible Closing Date: Position Open until Filled Major Areas of Responsibility and Duties Specific to this Job Participate in the referral and assessment process for students with visual impairments Conduct evaluations of the orientation and mobility needs of students with visual impairmentsParticipate in the development and implementation of IEPs based on identified needs Provide direct O&M instruction to students with visual impairments throughout their communities Consult with and advise parents, school staff, peers, and community on the design and provision of safe, efficient environments for students with visual impairments Provide direct instructional services to the students in accordance with the evaluation Other duties as assigned Specific Skills Preferred Strong understanding of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and Exceptional Children’s Education Act (ECEA) Knowledge of local, state, and federal laws, rules, and standards governing education.
