Infrastructure Engineer - Enterprise Technology & Operations

Job Description Part of a larger team delivering high‑quality Computer, Network, Storage and End‑User Infrastructure technology solutions, you will provide ongoing support to the business. You will independently complete infrastructure project assignments, planning, researching, evaluating, designing and engineering the enterprise’s technology infrastructure. You will also provide technical support, cost estimation, justification, and recommendation, and produce technical documentation, support and configuration. You will manage, plan and maintain technical platforms, including upgrading systems, monitoring performance, installing and configuring hardware, and collaborating with other job families (Project Managers, Architects, Solution Engineers, Technicians, Business Analysts). This role is 100% onsite at our New Albany, Ohio location. Essential Job Functions & Tasks Perform infrastructure project assignments, plan, research, evaluate, and design infrastructure solutions. Provide a high level of technical support, analysis, operation, administration, and troubleshooting activities. Adhere to AEP’s approval processes for change management, incident management and trouble response. Prepare cost estimates, justifications, application requirements, alternative solutions, and technical recommendations. Prepare technical documentation including procedures, manuals, and reports. Review and adhere to budgeting and approval processes while assisting with annual and project planning. May provide training and mentoring, and give work direction to team members. Other Requirements Adhere to policies, procedures, standards, codes and regulations relevant to assignments. Demonstrate thorough knowledge of AEP infrastructure, environment, components, and facilities. Exhibit proficiency in analysis, design, problem solving, troubleshooting, resolution, communication, and customer service skills. Networking Protocols Strong understanding of routing (OSPF, BGP) and switching. Proficiency with major vendor equipment (Cisco, Arista, etc). Security Knowledge of firewalls, VPNs, PKI, and cybersecurity best practices. Troubleshooting Excellent problem‑solving skills for diagnosing and resolving complex issues. Nice‑to‑Haves Firewall configuration, installation and maintenance. Authentication, Authorization and Accounting (AAA) to provide authentication of devices and users. Solid foundation of routers and switches (Cisco, Arista, etc). Background in supporting users in larger settings. Ability to work independently and manage tasks effectively. Good communication skills, able to interact with different customers, including leadership. Experience working with a team in a larger environment. What We’re Looking For Infrastructure Engineer Sr (SG7) – Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or related technical field; 5 years of relevant work experience. Infrastructure Engineer Prin (SG8) – Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or related technical field; 7 years of relevant work experience. Equivalent combination of education and related experience may be considered. Benefits Base Salary: $87,633.00 – $128,688.00 per year. Work Environment This position participates in an on‑call rotation and is part of an operational support team providing 24x7 coverage and support.
