Summary

 

The Finance Manager is responsible for leading the accounting and finance function for Fairmont Operations. This role provides financial leadership, analysis, reporting, budgeting, forecasting, cost management, and internal control oversight to support operational and business objectives. The Finance Manager serves as a key member of the plant leadership team, partnering with operations and functional leaders to drive financial performance, ensure compliance, and support strategic decision-making.

 

Essential Job Functions

 

Financial Management & Reporting

· Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close activities to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.

· Prepare and analyze financial statements, operational reports, and key performance indicators (KPIs).

· Monitor financial performance against budgets and forecasts, identifying trends, risks, and opportunities.

· Perform variance analyses and provide actionable recommendations to improve business results.

· Ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial records, reconciliations, and reporting processes.

Budgeting, Forecasting & Cost Control

· Facilitate the annual budgeting process and manage forecasting activities.

· Develop financial models, scenario analyses, and business forecasts to support strategic initiatives.

· Partner with operational leadership to establish performance objectives, identify cost reduction opportunities, and improve profitability.

· Analyze manufacturing costs, labor, overhead, inventory, and productivity metrics to drive operational efficiency.

· Support capital investment planning through financial modeling, business case development, and return-on-investment analysis.

· Identify and implement opportunities to improve financial performance and reduce operating costs.

Inventory & Asset Management

· Oversee inventory accounting and related financial controls.

· Monitor physical inventory and cycle count programs to ensure inventory accuracy.

· Analyze inventory variances and recommend corrective actions.

· Ensure proper accounting, capitalization, depreciation, and reporting of fixed assets and capital projects.

Compliance & Internal Controls

· Maintain an effective internal control environment and ensure compliance with company policies and accounting standards.

· Support internal and external audits and manage audit-related activities.

· Develop, document, and continuously improve financial policies, procedures, and controls.

· Ensure compliance with all applicable financial reporting, regulatory, and statutory requirements.

Business Partnership & Operational Support

· Serve as the primary finance partner to plant leadership and operational teams.

· Provide financial insight and decision-support analysis for operational, commercial, and strategic initiatives.

· Evaluate business opportunities, capital expenditures, and productivity improvement projects.

· Collaborate with Operations, Supply Chain, Human Resources, Engineering, Information Technology, and Corporate Finance to achieve business objectives.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities

 

The Finance Manager is responsible for directly supervising the Sr. Finance Specialist and the AP/AR Analyst.

 

Minimum Requirements

 

· Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

· CPA, CMA, MBA, or equivalent professional certification.

· Minimum of 10 years of progressive accounting or finance experience within a manufacturing environment.

· Experience supporting manufacturing operations with inventory and cost accounting responsibilities.

· Experience with budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and cost accounting.

· Experience partnering with operations and plant leadership teams.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

 

· Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, financial reporting, internal controls, and accounting principles.

· Comprehensive understanding of manufacturing finance, cost accounting, inventory valuation, and operational performance metrics.

· Proven ability to analyze complex financial and operational data and translate findings into business recommendations.

· Strong business acumen with the ability to influence decision-making at multiple organizational levels.

· Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications.

· Experience with ERP systems, financial planning tools, and reporting platforms.

· Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.

· Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.

· High level of integrity, professionalism, and commitment to confidentiality.

· Ability to build effective partnerships and collaborate across all levels of the organization.

 

 

Working Conditions

 

The physical demands are representative of those that must be met by an employee to safely and successfully perform the essential functions of this job consistent with federal, state, and local standards, including meeting productivity standards.

 

· Work is performed in both office and manufacturing plant environments.

· Frequent interaction with plant employees, leadership, and corporate IT teams.

· Exposure to industrial conditions including noise, heat, and production equipment when on the plant floor.

· Required use of personal protective equipment (PPE) in operational areas.

· May require occasional after‐hours support, on‐call availability, or extended hours for system issues or project implementations.
