Automotive Sales Consultant — American Dream Motors

Winchester, Virginia · Full-time · In person · W-2 employee

What you’ll earn

• $15.50 per hour base pay, on every scheduled hour you work
• Plus $300 commission on every vehicle you deliver
• No tiers, no packs, no sliding scales — you always know exactly what a deal pays you
• Typical total earnings run $45,000 to $85,000 per year depending on volume. Commission is performance-based and is not guaranteed.

About the role

American Dream Motors is an independent used car and truck dealership in Winchester, Virginia. We are looking for a sales consultant who can build trust, explain things clearly, and help people buy the right vehicle without high-pressure tactics.

Our systems handle lead response, reminders, and CRM organization, so you spend your time on the part that actually sells cars: talking with customers, understanding what they need, showing vehicles, running test drives, following up, presenting approved numbers, and asking for the sale.

What you’ll do

• Work scheduled appointments, internet leads, phone inquiries, and walk-in customers
• Understand each customer’s vehicle, budget, and transportation needs
• Recommend the right vehicles and describe their features and known condition accurately
• Conduct test drives and maintain strong knowledge of our inventory
• Present dealership-approved pricing and financing options
• Bring pricing exceptions, trade values, lender decisions, and unapproved terms to management
• Follow up with customers by phone, text, and email
• Log every customer interaction, note, and next step in the CRM
• Coordinate vehicle delivery and check in with customers after the sale
• Earn repeat and referral business through honest, respectful service

What we’re looking for

• Automotive sales experience preferred, but not required
• Experience in powersports, wireless, furniture, roofing, solar, retail, or another customer-facing sales role is welcome
• A track record of building relationships and closing sales
• Strong communication and follow-up habits
• Reliable attendance and professional conduct
• Comfortable working in a CRM and keeping accurate customer records
• Valid driver’s license and a driving record acceptable to our insurer
• Able to complete a lawful background check and motor vehicle record review
• Spanish-English bilingual ability is a strong plus, but not required

Virginia licensing

You do not need a Virginia motor vehicle salesperson license to apply; an active license is a plus. The person we hire is a W-2 employee and will complete the Virginia Motor Vehicle Dealer Board qualification and licensing process. You may not sell vehicles until the dealership receives the approved license.

Schedule

• Five scheduled days per week - We are usually here 6 days a week, but can do 5 - up to you.
• Dealership hours are Monday through Saturday, 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
• Saturday availability is required
• Closed Sundays, plus one additional scheduled weekday off
