Dustin is Board Certified in Criminal Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization, admitted to the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas, and has served Southeast Texas clients since 2008. The firm assists with preliminary firearm-rights screening, federal firearm-rights restoration matters, NICS background-check record correction, and Texas criminal-defense and record-clearing issues. Based in Beaumont, Texas, Reclaim Gun Rights also works with clients outside Texas on federal firearm-rights matters and welcomes attorney referrals related to federal restoration and NICS correction. Role Description The Intake Attorney will serve as the initial legal contact for prospective clients, conducting remote consultations to gather facts, review records, and assess potential firearm-rights restoration or NICS record-correction options. Day-to-day responsibilities include interviewing prospective clients, reviewing criminal and court records, identifying preliminary eligibility issues, and preparing concise intake memoranda or recommendations for further attorney review. The role also involves explaining the general legal process, documenting key timelines and follow-up actions, and maintaining organized electronic files in accordance with office procedures. This is a remote, contract attorney role, requiring reliable communication, timely responsiveness, and professional interaction with clients and referring attorneys. Qualifications Licensed attorney in good standing in at least one U.S. jurisdiction, with experience or strong interest in criminal law, civil rights, or administrative matters. Demonstrated ability to conduct fact-intensive client interviews, analyze criminal histories and court records, and identify relevant legal issues efficiently. Strong legal research and writing skills, including the ability to summarize complex issues clearly and prepare well-structured intake reports or memoranda. Excellent communication skills, with the capacity to explain legal concepts in accessible language and to interact professionally with clients from diverse backgrounds. Comfort with remote work, including proficiency with secure document-sharing tools, case-management or CRM software, and basic video-conferencing platforms. High attention to detail, sound professional judgment, and a commitment to ethical practice and confidentiality requirements. Prior experience with firearm-rights restoration, NICS background-check issues, or related federal administrative processes is preferred but not required.
