Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to obstetric patients throughout labor, delivery, recovery, and the immediate postpartum period, including fetal monitoring, newborn care, and emergency response
• Perform and interpret comprehensive patient assessments, develop individualized plans of care, and implement and evaluate nursing interventions
• Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately per provider orders and policy; recognize and respond to changes in patient condition
• Collaborate with providers, neonatal teams, and interdisciplinary staff to coordinate care and promote safe outcomes for both mother and newborn
• Accurately and timely document assessments, interventions, and outcomes in the electronic health record
• Provide patient and family education related to care, medications, and discharge needs; deliver culturally responsive, patient-centered care; on-call may be required

Required Qualifications

• Associate's degree or higher in Nursing from an accredited program
• Active, unrestricted Alaska Registered Nurse (RN) license required at time of submission
• BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NRP certifications all required
• Flu vaccination required (must have or obtain prior to start)
• ICPA background check required; fingerprint cards must arrive in Juneau within one week of accepting an offer - ICPA processing takes approximately 3-5 weeks upon receipt, and delays in submitting fingerprint cards may delay clearance to start
• High-risk competency validation required within 3 months of start and annually thereafter; clinical competency validation required within 3 months and every 3 years

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Prior Labor & Delivery nursing experience in a critical access or community hospital setting
• Proficiency with electronic health records and clinical systems
• Experience with complex medical equipment and high-risk obstetric procedures
• Demonstrated ability to work independently in a fast-paced, resource-variable environment
