Patient Services Specialist

Overview Job Summary : The Patient Services Specialist 1, with direct oversight, provides administrative support in a physician office, clinic or other operational area that assists patients, to ensure high quality, patient-centered care. Duties include patient relations, check-in and check-out, scheduling, insurance verification and answering phones. Job Summary (duplicate text removed for clarity). Responsibilities Assist with patient duties including patient relations, check-in/check-out, scheduling, insurance verification, and answering phones. Arrange follow-up visits and referral appointments. Assist with patient registration by collecting and verifying insurance information. Verify patient demographics and enter changes into the computer system. Direct patients to appropriate waiting areas. Accept payments for physician/clinic services according to established guidelines. Post payments and enter charges into the computer using appropriate codes. Generate daily payment reports and verify cash drawer against the report. Provide accurate patient, medical, financial or procedural information to patients or approved outside entities. May be required to discuss financial arrangements with patients. Receive and direct phone calls. Assist patients and other visitors. Respond to routine inquiries concerning practice services, hours of operation, etc. Ensure any patient complaints are handled appropriately. Assist with medical records duties as requested. Excellent data entry, numeric, typing and computer navigational skills, with attention to detail. Comfortable working in a fast-paced, constantly changing and stressful environment.
