Required Qualifications Valid Physical Therapy license in compliance with state regulations Current BLS certification (AHA/ARC) Preferred Qualifications Doctorate degree in physical therapy Physical Therapy experience; new graduates welcomed Other certifications or licenses may enhance candidacy Summary The Physical Therapist evaluates, diagnoses, and treats patients with physical impairments to improve mobility, reduce pain, and enhance quality of life. Work occurs in hospitals, clinics, and rehabilitation centers, creating personalized, evidence‑based treatment plans using exercise and manual therapy. The role requires strong clinical skill, effective communication, critical thinking, and a commitment to high‑quality, safe patient care. Essential Work Functions Evaluate patients’ conditions using standardized tests, clinical examinations, and patient history to identify functional limitations and treatment needs Develop personalized rehabilitation programs based on assessment findings and patient goals Implement physical therapy treatment plans using various techniques to improve mobility and reduce pain Operate specialized physical therapy equipment and modalities safely and effectively, ensuring proper maintenance and calibration of devices Assess patient progress, adjust treatment plans, and accurately document evaluations, interventions, and outcomes in the medical record Collaborate with physicians, nurses, occupational therapists, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate care and optimize outcomes Educate patients and caregivers on home exercise programs, body mechanics, injury prevention, and self‑management techniques Maintain a safe treatment environment by adhering to infection control protocols, safety guidelines, and regulatory standards while addressing patients’ comfort needs Engage in quality assurance initiatives and professional development activities to remain current with best practices Collaborate in discharge planning to ensure smooth transitions and continued patient progress in community or home‑based settings Perform other duties within scope of practice as assigned Required Essential Skills Critical thinking, customer service excellence, and good interpersonal communication English reading, comprehension, and communication skills PC proficiency and ability to comprehend written and verbal instructions Physical Abilities Must remain stationary, move equipment (50‑100 lbs), push, pull, and bend. Interpersonal Skills Must work effectively with diverse personnel and maintain a positive attitude and professionalism. Technical/Motor Skills Ability to grasp, perform fine manipulation, push/pull, and assist with procedures or equipment. Mental Requirements Must manage frequent public contact, meet deadlines under pressure, work independently or with occasional supervision, handle irregular schedules, and maintain concentration on details.
