Job Description

Position Summary:

The duty of Welder is to support ANDRITZ Separation Inc. on all service and repair work assigned by the Service Center Manager adhering to all Safety requirements expected both individually and shared throughout the organization. The Welder will work within the guidelines related to executing assigned task by his/her direct Supervisor.

Minimum of 2 years of hands-on welding experience required. TIG welding experience on stainless steel is highly preferred.

Typical Duties:

\n
• Weld in flat, vertical, or overhead positions that may involve heights.
\n
• Ignite torches or start power supplies and strike arcs by touching electrodes to metals being welded.
\n
• Clamp, hold, tack-weld, heat-bend, grind or bolt component parts to obtain required configurations and positions for welding.
\n
• Detect faulty operation of equipment or defective materials and notify supervisors.
\n
• Monitor the fitting, burning, and welding processes to avoid overheating of parts or warping, shrinking, distortion, or expansion of material.
\n
• Examine work pieces for defects and measure work pieces with straightedges or templates to ensure conformance with specifications.
\n
• Recognize, set up, and operate hand and power tools common to the welding trade, such as shielded metal arc and gas metal arc welding equipment. Gas tungsten arc welding is a plus.
\n
• Read technical drawings in both 2D and 3D versions.
\n
• Read and follow written and verbal instructions.
\n

SPECIALIZED JOB SKILLS:

\n
• Must be able to use most hand tools and have well developed mechanical aptitude.
\n
• Capable of rigging and handling cranes, forklifts and other lifting equipment.
\n
• Must have ability to use precision measuring instruments and the ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints.
\n
• Basic experience in maintenance environment to include troubleshooting, defining failure and corrective action plans during machine down situations.
\n
• Minimum of 2 years of hands-on welding experience required. TIG welding experience on stainless steel is highly preferred.
\n
• Ability to Weld Carbon Steel/Stainless Steel a plus (Mig, Tig, Fluxcore, SMAW).
\n
• Conduct Handheld Vibration analysis - past experience a plus.
\n
• Electromechanical Technology degree or trade school a plus.
\n
• PLC programming experience and knowledge (ie. AB, Siemens S7, Modicon Concept, GE Cimplicity, IFix, Wonderware) required for specific positions filled a plus.
\n

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

\n
• The physical demands of this position require the ability to walk, sit or stand for long periods of time.
\n
• Willing to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
\n
• Must be physically able to lift a minimum of 75 pounds, and have the dexterity to bend and stoop for long periods of time.
\n
• Ability to bend, stoop, twist at the waist.
\n
• Must be able to climb ladders and maintain balance on catwalks and platforms.
\n
• Make visual inspections with precise hand and finger movements, with reasoning and problem solving ability.
\n
• Must be flexible on work hours and shifts.
\n

• Mechanical capability required.
\n
• Welding Schools / Training / Certifications.
\n
• Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
\n
• Strong focus on housekeeping and shop cleanliness.
\n
• Strong focus on completing tasks in order of priority.
\n
• Strong work ethic and positive attitude with minimal supervision.
\n
• Strong knowledge of the importance of safety, and place it in the highest regard.
\n

• Travel will be required for training and periodic customer on-site visits.
\n

Work Environment:

\n
• Work is approximately 90% indoors non-air conditioned and 10% outdoors. Air may be extremely dusty at times.
\n
• Environment can produce extreme heat and cold.
\n
• Noise levels may reach decibels requiring hearing protection.
\n
