Conventional (Manual) Machinist

Summary The Conventional Machinist is responsible for setting up and operating manual machining equipment to manufacture precision aerospace components within a fast‑paced production environment. This role requires strict adherence to engineering specifications, aerospace quality standards, and safety protocols, while consistently maintaining tight tolerances and high repeatability. The Conventional Machinist works with a variety of materials and collaborates closely with engineering and quality teams to ensure all parts meet exacting performance and compliance requirements. Essential Functions Set up and operate conventional/manual machines including manual lathes, manual mills (Bridgeport), honing machines, and grinding equipment Interpret complex aerospace engineering drawings, blueprints, and GD&T requirements Machine a variety of materials including aluminum, titanium, stainless steel, and high‑temperature alloys Perform precision measurements using micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, and height gauges Maintain tight tolerances, often within ±0.0005" or tighter depending on part requirements Perform in‑process inspections to ensure compliance with aerospace standards Deburr, polish, and finish parts to required specifications Document work performed in accordance with AS9100 and customer traceability requirements Maintain equipment, tooling, and work area in a clean and safe condition Collaborate with quality, engineering, and inspection teams to resolve machining or dimensional issues Quality and Compliance Expectations Adhere to aerospace quality standards including AS9100 and customer‑specific requirements Ensure full traceability of materials, processes, and completed work Participate in audits and continuous improvement initiatives Follow all safety and regulatory requirements, including OSHA standards #J-18808-Ljbffr Axius Group, LLC
