Sterile Processing Tech – Surgery Center Full‑time (0.75 or greater) day shift position at Billings Clinic Surgery Center. Hours: 80 hours every two weeks (Non‑Exempt). Starting wage: $17.15 – $21.44, DOE. Essential job functions include: Decontamination of surgical instruments; use of PPE and standard precautions; appropriate disposal of trash and linens. Instrument assembly; assemble instrument sets, adhere to count sheets, check instruments for function and cleanliness, prepare and lock containers, record sets; maintain quality‑control standard of three errors or less per month. Packaging; wrap or peel‑pack items, use tip protectors, appropriate chemical integrators and tape; accurate legible labeling; quality‑control standard of three or fewer per month. Sterilization; prepare containers, wrap, log, operate equipment, monitor charts, interpret biological and chemical monitors; load carts per standards, document inventory, ensure accurate monitoring of parameters, record information on stamps, demonstrate appropriate handling of sterile items. Picking cases; use computer to print surgery schedules and pick sheets; use appropriate size case carts, follow supply lists accurately; maintain 2 or fewer errors per month. Other essential tasks: computer use for all surgery cases, prepare case carts, transport carts, retrieve specialty trays and devices, respond to phone requests, etc. Identify needs, set personal growth goals, meet mandatory system/departmental requirements. Maintain competency in environmental, employee or patient safety standards. Participate in process improvement activities and apply performance‑improvement principles. Notify Clinical Coordinators of new or unfamiliar equipment for cleaning and sterilization procedures. Support and model behaviors consistent with Billings Clinic’s mission, vision, values, code of conduct and service expectations; meet all mandatory organizational and departmental requirements. Perform all other duties as assigned or needed. Minimum qualifications: High School diploma or GED. Preferred: CRCST (Certified Registered Central Service Technician) through IAHCSMM or CBSPD. Equivalent combination of education and experience considered; required licensure or certification must be in good standing.
