Position Summary

The Outpatient Child Therapist provides individual, group, and/or family therapy to children and adolescents experiencing emotional, behavioral, developmental, or mental health challenges. The therapist works collaboratively with caregivers, schools, and other community providers to support the child's emotional well-being, promote resilience, and address symptoms interfering with daily functioning.

This role requires clinical knowledge, cultural sensitivity, and a compassionate, client-centered approach. Services may be delivered in-person or telehealth, within the clinic setting, depending on client and program needs.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive, strength-based assessments and develop individualized treatment plans in collaboration with youth and families.
• Deliver evidence-based and developmentally appropriate outpatient therapy to children, adolescents, and families.
• Utilize a variety of clinical modalities including CBT, play therapy, trauma-informed care, family systems approaches, or other appropriate methods.
• Monitor progress toward treatment goals and adjust interventions as necessary.
• Maintain timely and accurate clinical documentation in accordance with agency, ethical, and regulatory standards.
• Participate in regular clinical supervision and case consultations.
• Collaborate with psychiatrists, schools, primary care providers, and other service systems to ensure integrated and coordinated care.
• Respond to clinical crises with appropriate interventions and referrals as needed.
• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical and legal standards, including HIPAA and mandated reporting laws.
• Participate in professional development, continuing education, and training opportunities to support growth and licensure.
• Uphold all agency, state, and federal privacy and documentation regulations, including HIPAA and mandated reporting.
• Assist with other clinical duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, Marriage and Family Therapy, or a related field (required).
• Current state licensure or license-eligible (e.g., LCSW, LMHC, LPC, LMFT, or equivalent).
• Experience working with children, adolescents, and families in clinical settings (preferred).
• Strong clinical, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently while remaining connected to a collaborative clinical team.
• Familiarity with trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and strengths-based approaches.
• Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) and basic computer skills.

Work Environment & Schedule

• This is an exempt, full-time position.
• Standard hours are Monday through Friday, 8 AM – 5 PM CST
• This position requires in-person work and is not eligible for remote or hybrid work arrangements.
• Work is performed in an outpatient clinic and occasionally in community settings.
• This position requires prolonged periods of sitting, speaking, listening, and use of computers.
• May require occasional lifting of up to 20 pounds.
• May occasionally involve exposure to emotionally intense or crisis situations; training and support are provided.

Transportation Requirements

• Provide transportation for consumers as needed using agency or personal vehicles.
• Maintain a safe driving record and valid driver's license with personal liability insurance.
• Follow all agency transportation policies, including seatbelt usage, safe cellphone practices, and vehicle documentation.
• Immediately report any vehicle issues, accidents, or violations to appropriate personnel.

In-Service Training & Continued Education Requirements

• Participate in all required agency in-service and ADMH trainings
• Commitment to ongoing professional development to enhance skills and stay informed on best practices in behavioral health.
• Completion of onboarding and any continuing education requirements as directed by the agency or supervisor.
• Ongoing professional development to maintain best practices and compliance with evolving standards of care.
