About the Position

Job Title: Float Pool RN Profession: Nursing Specialty: RN Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 3x12 First Shift Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 1 year of RN experience, with Telemetry experience required. License: Active, unrestricted RN license in the applicable state. Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, Nonviolent crisis prevention training. Must-Have: ADN or ASN required. BSN preferred. Candidates who already hold ACLS, PALS, and NIHSS are strongly preferred. Description: The RN implements professional nursing practice centered on the patient as a whole person. The focus is on creating a caring environment that promotes healing and wellness. Nursing practices are based on evidence, current research, hospital policies, and professional guidelines. Clinical decision-making incorporates all four phases of the nursing process, critical thinking, and creativity. Nursing excellence is promoted through helping relationships among nursing staff and across disciplines. Coordinating, ensuring, and providing direct patient care activities on the unit is essential. This includes provision of nursing rounds, assessments, and treatments. Facilitating admission, transfer, and discharge activities is also part of the role. Providing patient and family-centered education is necessary for care coordination and individualized treatment planning. The position requires assessment of patient needs and performing comprehensive assessments. Cultural, age, and developmental levels are considered in care. Identifying patient risk factors and collecting health information are key responsibilities. Ongoing assessments and response to procedures and therapies are documented in accordance with policies. Tasks are delegated appropriately and the performance of team members is overseen. The RN must address educational needs of patients related to prioritized problems. Execution of discharge orders and coordination with other departments is required. Active participation in unit-based activities in support of organizational values is expected. Promoting a positive group dynamic and healing environment is part of the job. Contributions to quality improvement activities and initiatives are encouraged. The RN must communicate changes in patient condition appropriately. Flexibility and time management across multiple units are essential skills. Adherence to infection-control protocols and patient privacy is required. Physical requirements include frequent lifting and walking, as well as exposure to various health risks.
