Senior Stress Analysis Engineer

Work Arrangement This is an on-site position. Job Overview We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Structural Engineer specializing in aircraft structures to join our team. As a Structural Engineer, you will play a key role in the design, analysis, and optimization of structural components for our unmanned aerial systems (UAS) and unmanned surface vehicles (USV). You will work closely with our engineering team to develop innovative solutions and enhance the performance and reliability of our products. Essential Functions Collaborate with cross-functional teams to lead the structural layout, structural sizing into conceptual design and through detail design. Partner with manufacturing team to generate fabrication and assembly work instructions. Analyzing structural loads on both composite laminates, metallic structures, and plastic components using empirical methods, hand calculations, finite element analysis (FEA). Conduct static and dynamic structural analyses using finite element analysis (FEA) tools. Prepare detailed technical reports, documentation, and presentations for internal and external stakeholders. Supporting flight test planning, test execution, and aircraft modifications Identify and implement innovative solutions to complex structural engineering challenges. Develop, review, and approve structural designs, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements. Develop structural design guides and toolsets that can be used by other engineers. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications and Competencies Foundational knowledge of aircraft load paths and structural sizing Expert understanding of the theory and practical application of composite structures and their application to aircraft Proficiency in finite element analysis (FEA) toolsets such as FEMAP or NASTRAN. Proficiency with CAD software (e.g., Solidworks, NX, or CATIA). Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and teamwork abilities. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills Ability to work with multiple engineering disciplines on an aggressive schedule. Ability to be flexible in various work scenarios to adjust priorities needed to meet evolving requirements and challenges. Demonstrative ability to be proactive and take initiate during day-to-day tasks Ability work independently, confidently making decisions to guide other towards project goals Education/Certifications Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering or related field. Master’s Degree us a plus. Experience 8+ years of structural engineering experience Proven experience in structural analysis and design, preferably in aerospace industry. Hands-on design and build experience. Rapid prototyping experience. Defense industry experience is a plus Physical Requirements Frequently required to sit, and to reach to use computers and other office equipment Occasionally required to stand for extended periods of time Occasionally required repetitive movements of wrists, hands, and/or fingers For the purpose of this summary, occasionally is used to represent up to 1/3 of the time given to the workday, frequently represents 1/3 to 2/3 of the time and constantly represents 2/3 or more of the time.
