About the Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Senior Sourcing Engineer to join our team in Basom, NY. This is a strategic sourcing role for a seasoned manufacturing or procurement professional who can build strong supplier relationships, negotiate effectively, identify cost-saving opportunities, and drive continuous improvement across the supply chain.

The ideal candidate will work closely with Engineering, Product Management, Production, Planning, and Operational Purchasing to ensure the right materials are available at the right cost, quality, and delivery levels.

What You'll Do

• Identify and research new suppliers and sourcing opportunities globally, with a focus on local sourcing when feasible.
• Partner with Engineering, Product Management, and Production teams to understand material and technical requirements.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with assigned suppliers and serve as an escalation point when issues arise.
• Negotiate Master Supply Agreements with key suppliers in accordance with company requirements.
• Use root-cause analysis to drive improvements in quality, on-time delivery, cost, and net working capital .
• Develop and implement commodity strategies that support current and future business needs.
• Utilize quoting, value engineering, and make-vs.-buy analysis to support cost-reduction initiatives.
• Support Operational Purchasing with vendor creation and maintenance.
• Collaborate with Purchasing and Planning to optimize purchasing strategies and production requirements while minimizing total cost of ownership.
• Participate in supplier business reviews and supplier scorecard evaluations.
• Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
• Maintain full compliance with company safety, ethics, and quality requirements.

Job Requirements

What We're Looking For

• 8+ years of experience in manufacturing, procurement, sourcing, or a related production environment.
• Strong negotiation and supplier management skills.
• Results-oriented approach with the ability to monitor and report on KPIs.
• Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills with the ability to identify root causes using facts, data, and sound logic.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical specifications.
• Experience with casting, machining, assembly, or metal fabrication is a plus.
• Experience with MRP systems; SAP experience is preferred .
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to build productive relationships with suppliers and internal teams.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, change-oriented environment.
• Highly organized with strong ownership and accountability.

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Supply Chain, or a related field , or equivalent professional experience.

• Ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed.
• Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to take ownership of assigned processes and drive results.
• Must be able to work on-site in Basom, NY .
