This role ensures the accuracy, privacy, and security of patient records, supports healthcare providers with access to necessary information, and assists in data analysis for informed decision-making. The HIM Specialist reports to the HIM Manager and works closely with clinical staff, IT professionals, and administrative personnel.**RESPONSIBILITIES****Manage and Organize Healthcare Data*** Create and maintain electronic health records (EHRs).* Code diagnoses and procedures for billing purposes.* Verify the accuracy of patient records.**Ensure Privacy and Security*** Maintain compliance with HIPAA and other regulations.* Implement security measures to protect patient information.* Conduct regular audits to ensure data integrity.**Support Healthcare Providers*** Provide access to patient records and information.* Assist with data retrieval and reporting.* Collaborate with clinical staff to ensure accurate documentation.**Analyze and Interpret Data*** Identify trends and patterns in healthcare data.* Generate reports for decision-making.* Use data analysis to improve patient care and operations.**Provide Training and Education*** Train healthcare professionals on data management practices.* Update staff on changes in regulations and technologies.* Develop educational materials and resources.**REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS*** High School Diploma/GED* At least 2 year(s) of experience in health information management.* Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) certification.**PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS*** Bachelor's Degree in Health Information Management or a related field* At least 4 year(s) of experience in including experience in a healthcare setting.* Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) or Certified Health Data Analyst (CHDA) certification.## **SALARY RANGE**$34,864+ depending on qualifications**WORKING ENVIRONMENT/EQUIPMENT*** Standard office equipment* Repetitive use of a keyboard## Required Materials* Resume/CV* 3 work references with their contact information; at least one reference should be from a supervisor* Letter of interest**Important** **for applicants who are NOT current university employees or contingent workers:** You will be prompted to submit your resume the first time you apply, then you will be provided an option to upload a new Resume for subsequent applications.
