Clinical Application Analyst - Beaker Certified Job Summary: The Application Analyst in the Wellstar Information Technology department is responsible for the support, optimization and enhancement of clinical and revenue cycle applications across the Wellstar Health System, with a primary focus on Epic. Reporting to the Manager of Clinical and Revenue Cycle Applications, this intermediate-level role requires proven experience in building, configuring and supporting Healthcare Information Technology systems to meet the evolving needs of clinical and operational stakeholders. The candidate must have a minimum of three years healthcare experience, including a minimum of three years Epic and/or associated application build experience. For Epic positions, certification in two or more relevant applications is required. Key responsibilities include troubleshooting and resolving issues, delivering high-quality end-user support and collaborating with cross-functional teams to implement new features, workflows and enhancements. The analyst will provide application and technical support within a defined service line, contributing to design, build, testing and ongoing maintenance activities. Application enhancements should prioritize end-user efficiency and experience. The analyst may serve as the primary support for complex systems or contribute to larger projects involving more advanced platforms. Candidates will preferably have a minimum of one year of project management experience, having successfully led application-specific initiatives. In alignment with Wellstar's culture of continuous improvement, Lean certification is preferred or must be obtained upon hiring. Ideal candidates will bring human factors design awareness, a commitment to Agile methodologies and will have experience delivering meaningful system improvements in collaboration with cross-functional clinical and operational teams. This is a high-impact role offering a clear career path toward a Senior Application Analyst. Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions Deliver support to ensure the efficient operation of assigned applications. Assist with troubleshooting and resolving system issues in collaboration with Associate Application Analysts, Senior Analysts and other IT teams. Document system configurations, workflows and resolution steps to promote knowledge sharing and maintain long-term application stability. Configure Epic and related third-party applications to meet evolving clinical and operational requirements. Apply human factors design principles to reduce friction, support decision‑making, and improve the user experience. Lead integration testing, user acceptance testing, and go‑live readiness assessments. Assist in validation and testing of EHR systems to support clinical workflows and operational needs. Collaborate with application analysts, senior analysts and clinical staff to implement EHR enhancements and optimize user workflows. Participate in EHR testing, system upgrades and validation processes to ensure ongoing functionality, performance and regulatory compliance. Document EHR configuration changes, test results and issue resolutions to support team knowledge‑sharing and long‑term system stability. Project Management Gather, clarify and document clinical and operational requirements from stakeholders. Prioritize tasks, manage time effectively and track progress across multiple assignments. Schedule, facilitate and document meetings with clear agendas, notes and action items. Create and maintain workflow diagrams and process documentation to support system improvements. Build foundational skills in project planning and use tools such as Excel, Project and SharePoint. Cross‑Department Collaboration & Functional Support Act as a liaison between IT and clinical or operational teams to support effective communication around Epic and related third‑party application functionality. Develop a foundational understanding of how healthcare applications integrate with other systems, contributing insights to improve usability and workflow alignment. Support project teams by assisting with requirements gathering, process documentation and implementation tasks across departments. Build collaborative relationships with stakeholders to ensure technology solutions align with clinical and operational goals. Continuous Learning & Professional Development Enhance knowledge through technical training and soft‑skill development. Stay informed on emerging trends, technologies and best practices in healthcare IT. Actively participate in training and development opportunities. Prepare for EHR certification and future growth within the analyst career path. Risk Management & Compliance Identify potential risks related to application performance, user adoption and data security. Assist in developing mitigation strategies for system‑related risks. Ensure applications comply with HIPAA, HITECH and other healthcare regulations while adhering to security standards. Adaptability & Flexibility Remain calm and composed under pressure in a fast‑paced healthcare environment. Adjust tasks, schedules and priorities to support evolving patient care and organizational needs. Adapt to changing clinical or operational expectations and propose new approaches. Collaborate on effective, patient‑centered solutions to challenges and ambiguity. Maintain a customer‑focused mindset by partnering with clinical and non‑clinical teams. Quickly adopt new technologies and tools to improve care delivery and support organizational goals. Required Minimum Education High School Diploma (General) or Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Health Administration, Nursing, Medical Technology, or a related field (preferred). Required Minimum License(s) and Certification(s) All certifications required upon hire unless otherwise stated. Additional License(s) and Certification(s) Epic positions – Certification in 2 or more modules, including 1 for assigned application area. Third‑party application positions – Associated system certification/training upon hire. Project Management training required within 1 year of hire. Epic Usability Training required within 180 days of hire. Wellstar Lean training and certification required within 180 days of hire (preferred). Required Minimum Experience Minimum 3 years of healthcare experience, including real‑world exposure in areas such as clinical applications, front office operations, RN training, project management or other EMR experience. Minimum 3 years of Epic and/or related third‑party application build experience for the assigned application area. Minimum 1 year of project management experience (preferred). Required Minimum Skills High proficiency with verbal and written communication skills. Ability to complete assigned tasks with minimal guidance while maintaining strong attention to detail. Collaborative team player, open to constructive feedback while contributing to team goals. Proficiency in analyzing and troubleshooting problems effectively. Solid understanding of general information technology policies and procedures. Capability to gather business or clinical requirements to facilitate application implementation and support.
