Your day-to-day work includes:Maintenance & Troubleshooting:Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systemsPerform preventative maintenance to reduce downtime and extend equipment lifeMaintain, install, repair, improve, and troubleshoot mill machinery including conveyor systems, saws, kilns, and de-barkersDiagnose machine performance issues and implement corrective solutionsTechnical Expertise:Read and interpret mechanical drawings and blueprintsPerform welding and fabrication to repair and modify equipment componentsMaintain and troubleshoot hydraulic and pneumatic systemsWork alongside electricians on electrical systems and componentsEvaluate and test equipment efficiency, recommending improvementsDocumentation & Communication:Maintain accurate maintenance documentation, parts inventory, and closing reportsProactively communicate with all departments to ensure proper operation of equipmentRegularly educate maintenance and operations teams on evolving programsContinuous Improvement:Continuously evaluate and analyze quality, safety, and production processesIdentify and suggest new approaches or best practices to drive improvementPartner with machine operators to improve efficiency and reliabilityImplement and maintain preventative maintenance programsSafety & Compliance:Follow and model strict safety protocols and regulatory compliance standardsMake safety in the workplace the number one priorityWork cross-functionally with production and leadership teams to keep the mill operating safelyThis is hands-on, technical work in a fast-paced industrial setting where your expertise directly drives uptime, safety, and mill performance.Click to Watch Millwright Real-Life PerspectiveRequired QualificationsExperience:Minimum 5 years of industrial equipment maintenance experienceSawmill operations experience preferredTechnical Skills:Proficient in mechanical systems: conveyor systems, saws, kilns, de-barkersSkilled in welding and fabrication for equipment repair and modificationAbility to read and interpret mechanical drawings and blueprintsKnowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems maintenance and troubleshootingBasic understanding of electrical systems and electrical safety practicesStrong problem-solving skills to diagnose mechanical issues quickly and accuratelyWork Style & Competencies:Team player with excellent communication skills (verbal and written)Highly self-motivated and able to work independentlyCollaborative approach with willingness to mentor less experienced millwrightsAbility to adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environmentFlexibility to work non-standard hours or weekends when urgent needs ariseStrict adherence to safety protocols and proceduresOther Requirements:Valid driver's licenseAbility to lift 50+ lbs., climb stairs and ladders, and move equipment as neededPhysical & Environmental RequirementsLift up to 50+ lbs., climb stairs and ladders, and work around industrial equipmentWork safely around moving mechanical systemsComfortable in loud conditions with airborne sawdustComfortable working in indoor and outdoor temperaturesFlexibility to work non-standard hours or weekends when urgent maintenance needs ariseNext StepsTake the next step toward a long-term, meaningful career.
