Job Description Summary GE Grid Solutions GSI North America group is seeking a Senior Power Transformers Field Specialist 1. Reporting directly to the Field Services Team Leader for the Power Transformers (PTR) Group, the incumbent will be responsible for ensuring erection, commissioning and maintenance of PTR systems and operating support equipment, in collaboration with the client and GE engineering group. Highlights On The Position Regional and national travel across North America. Long‑term installation projects with rotational schedules (four weeks on site, one week working at home). Guaranteed base salary compensation plus eligibility for overtime and per diem. Typical on‑site work activities: 12‑hour days, up to six days per week. Emergency call‑out services may be required to support year‑round 24x7 production requirements. Position based out of the service center in Humble/Houston, Texas area. Essential Responsibilities Perform on‑site transformer services covering new unit installation, corrective maintenance, and unit upgrades. Assist team leaders with on‑site resources of assigned crew members and subcontracted services. Attend daily morning tailboards with crews and/or customer resources to outline daily activities. Identify and report any EHS/HSE concerns within the job scope. Assist with operation and control of vacuum processing rigs and associated equipment. Assist or oversee field tests and commissioning of units. Participate in the development and improvement of standard procedures for transformer installation and maintenance. Provide technical assistance in preparing and submitting technical documents. Participate in developing inspection criteria in collaboration with external and internal customers. Required Qualifications Ability and willingness to travel up to 80% of the time. Minimum of 2 years field experience with mechanical and/or electrical work related to power transformers or other EBP equipment such as high‑voltage breakers and switchgear. Prefer a associate’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering with specialization in Power Transformers or HV/MV apparatus. Mechanical experience via technical training institutes or military services with proven field experience is encouraged. Desired Characteristics Leadership experience. Effective communication skills. IT/computer savvy with experience using multiple software applications. Ability to read electrical schematics and one‑line diagrams. CDL license preferred or ability to obtain. Compensation The hourly pay range for this position is $48.00‑$52.00 per hour, depending on experience, qualifications, and position level.
