About the Position

Job Title: Scrub Technician Profession: Technician Specialty: Scrub Duration: 12 weeks Shift: Day Shift Hours per Shift: 8 hours Experience: Must have CVOR experience License: NBSTSA Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) Certifications: BLS Must-Have: CVOR experience Description: To provide safe care for patients following established standards and practices in accordance with professional and hospital standards. Constant interaction with patients, families, physicians, employees, and visitors. Assists in the coordination of patient care by collaborating with the health team. Participates in performance improvement activities. Acts in the role of support during the surgical procedure, but not as a surgical assistant. Implements patient care by maintaining asepsis and performing scrubbing duties. Communicates patient information to appropriate persons. Accounts for all equipment and supplies used in patient care. Maintains effective communication with peers and health team members. Demonstrates adaptability and supports teamwork within the department. Resolves problems effectively and meets customer service quality standards. Performs clinical preceptor role for scrubbing, collaborating with the patient care coordinator and educator. Maintains cleanliness in the unit and cleans equipment. Responsible for the care and use of equipment during surgical cases. Performs other job duties and responsibilities as required. Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks quickly in a fast-paced environment. Limited access to medication rooms. Medications should not be handled at any time. Frequent standing, walking, bending, crouching, and stooping. Frequent lifting and moving of patients, with intermittent lifting up to 50 lbs. Frequent use of finger and hand dexterity. Constant reaching with hands and arms. Frequent talking and hearing is required. Exposure to blood, body fluids, tissue, and infectious materials. Intermittent exposure to blood-borne pathogens. Moderate to high noise level in the work area. Requires work under stressful conditions, deadlines, or irregular hours. May be required to take call and/or work weekends and holidays based on department needs.
