ABOUT THE POSITION

Research Attorneys, under general judicial direction, perform legal research, prepare written analyses of motions and matters on calendar for assigned judicial officers, and perform related duties as assigned. Research Attorneys are prohibited by Court policy from practicing law, receiving fees, and/or appearing in court representing another party as counsel during their employment as a Research Attorney, except if performing non‑representational pro‑bono work that conforms to the Court’s Pro Bono Policy and is pre‑approved by management. SELECTION REQUIREMENTS

To qualify, you must meet one of the following options at the final filing date of this bulletin:

OPTION I

All of the following must be true: Graduation from an accredited school of law An active member of the California State Bar in good standing Currently employed as a Superior Court of Los Angeles County Law Clerk -AND- received two positive performance evaluations Notified in writing by a Managing Research Attorney of eligibility

OPTION II

All of the following must be true: Graduation from an accredited school of law An active member of the California State Bar in good standing Minimum of two years as a Superior Court of Los Angeles County Law Clerk -AND- received two positive performance evaluations Note: Credit for experience is given based on a 40‑hour workweek. Part‑time experience is credited on a part‑time ratio (e.g., working 20 hours per week for two months equals one month of experience). Overtime does not count toward additional credit.

HOW YOU WILL BE EVALUATED

A Selection Committee will review completed applications and make selections. Placement will be determined based upon the needs of the Court.

Candidates will be evaluated on education, training and experience based upon submitted application materials. The applicants with the highest qualifications as determined by this evaluation will be selected.
