Tier 3 Linux Support Specialist

Responsibilities:- Maintains daily operations and maintenance of diverse Server environment as well as providing secondary support for network architecture- Designing and implements upgrades, additions, and new systems as projects dictate- Participates as a Tier 3 Technician in the IT Helpdesk topology for Linux based systems- Provides documentation for problem resolutions as well as documentation for processes and maintenance of inventories and other key departmental information- Implement and Support critical server infrastructure in Linux OS environments on virtual and physical computing resources- Must be proficient in configuring Windows Server, Active Directory, Microsoft Exchange, IIS, VMware ESXI, Linux OS and LAMP- Data security and disaster recovery from managing traditional tape backups to cross site SAN replication- Knowledge of WAN infrastructure including IP switching and routing, firewalls, IDS/IPS systems, DNS, load balancing, and site to site VPN is a plus- Participate in server and networking status via alerting system and customer reports 24 hours a day as well as keeping accurate records of system statuses- Provides technical expertise in researching, identifying, evaluating, recommending and/or developing information security systems, controls, methods, techniques and models- Contributes to the organization, processes, teams and product in a significant manner- Adheres to organizational processes and procedures- Exhibits initiative to complete tasks in a timely manner- Displays leadership qualities, takes ownership of assigned responsibilities- Completes special projects or other duties as assigned- Contributes positively to working environment- Authors SOPs as needed or directed- Be available for emergency and after-hours maintenance and travel to secondary network locations when necessary- Build relationships with colleagues and customers as well as outside vendors and support staff. Candidate must have the ability and desire to work within a team environment and be responsible enough to work with minimal supervision- Responsible to fully document assigned tickets to show all work performed in order to pass SLRs- Responsible to maintain accurate CMDB entries for assigned tickets or tasksQualifications: - US Citizenship required- Experience with Linux Server distros required- Experience with VMWare ESXi or other leading hypervisors and SAN Storage Architecture. VMware Certification is a plus- Basic technical knowledge of networking and network security in general including advanced knowledge and understanding of TCP/IP. CCNA/CCNP certification is a Plus- Typically requires BS degree and 8 years of prior relevant experience.
