Position Overview

This role involves constructing industrial electro-mechanical reel products by assembling structural, mechanical, and electrical components based on production documentation, drawings, wiring instructions, and quality standards. It requires attention to detail, pride in workmanship, and the ability to tackle assembly issues as part of a team.

The ideal candidate will be quality-focused, able to work independently, and adept at using production tools, wiring instructions, measurement devices, and shop procedures to create precise assemblies. They may also provide insights to other teams when clarification is needed on product, drawing, or customer-specific issues.

Primary Responsibilities

• Construct finished reel products by assembling mechanical, structural, and electrical components according to work orders, drawings, and instructions.
• Connect color-coded wires and install wiring following specified instructions and production needs.
• Utilize shop tools and equipment like cut-off saws, drill presses, hand tools, power tools, and assembly fixtures.
• Inspect, adjust, test, and validate electrical and mechanical assemblies for quality, fit, and function.
• Analyze diagrams, production orders, and customer requirements; escalate unclear or incorrect information to supervisors or engineering for resolution.
• Verify that product meets customer expectations by reviewing information from engineering, sales, and manufacturing and communicating any necessary changes.
• Aid in maintaining consistency in future builds and preventing the recurrence of quality issues through communication of corrections or changes.
• Provide support for field service or start-up activities when qualified and needed.
• Maintain 5S, safety, quality, and environmental practices in the work area.

Background and Skills

· High school diploma or GED required; related technical training or assembly experience preferred.

· Two to five years of electrical or mechanical assembly experience strongly preferred.

· Proficiency in utilizing cut-off saws, drill presses, hand tools, and power tools.

· Ability to perform basic shop math and use measurement devices with whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.

· Experience in reading blueprints, drawings, wiring documents, or procedures is advantageous.

· Experience in soldering is beneficial.

· Ability to comprehend safety rules, operating instructions, maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

· Readiness to obtain in-house forklift and overhead crane certification before operating necessary equipment.

Work Environment / Physical Requirements

· The role involves standing, walking, reaching, handling parts, and working in a manufacturing setting near moving mechanical equipment.

· Must be capable of lifting and moving heavy items as required and following safe material-handling procedures.

· Close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, peripheral vision, and focus adjustment are crucial for quality and assembly tasks.

· Occasional exposure to humidity, fumes, airborne particles, or moderate shop noise may occur.
