BJC's Laboratory Department provides a wide variety of assays and procedures to obtain data used in the diagnosis and treatment of most disease states to our inpatient and out patients. Services include phlebotomy, hematology, chemistry, microbiology, blood bank, point-of-care and pathology. Role Purpose Responsible for providing a variety of basic routine tests and procedures on tissue and related surgical specimens submitted for histological examination. Responsibilities Tasks limited to microtomy, embedding, staining. Performs and documents quality controls for all equipment and troubleshoots malfunctioning instrumentation as necessary. Understands maintenance, troubleshooting and operation of all instrumentation in assigned areas. Has minimal understanding of test principles.
