Senior Accounting Manager

Location: Bala Cynwyd, PA | 4 days onsite Must Have: 5+ years of progressive real estate and/or public accounting experience to be considered A growing and well-established real estate investment and property management organization is seeking a Senior Accounting Manager to join its accounting team. This is a high-visibility opportunity for an experienced real estate accounting professional to take ownership of day-to-day accounting operations while partnering with senior leadership on financial reporting, controls, and process improvements. This role plays a critical part in overseeing accounting for a diverse portfolio of real estate assets, investment entities, and corporate operations. Key Responsibilities: Oversee full-cycle accounting for a portfolio of real estate properties, investment entities, and corporate operations. Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting. Review monthly workpapers, account reconciliations, and bank reconciliations prepared by the accounting team. Review and analyze financial statements and supporting schedules. Assist with property-level and entity-level financial reporting. Support preparation and review of audited financial statements. Assist with property and investment-level distributions and valuations. Monitor and reconcile real estate taxes, insurance, reserves, and other property-related accounts. Review vendor payments, credit card activity, payroll-related accounting, and other operating expenses. Lead and oversee day-to-day accounting operations. Manage, mentor, and develop accounting and accounts payable staff. Review team deliverables for accuracy, completeness, and timeliness. Help establish best practices and improve accounting workflows. Foster a collaborative, high-performing accounting environment. Partner with Asset Management and Property Management teams on financial and operational matters. Support accounting for multiple properties and entities. Gain exposure to investment fund accounting and higher-level financial initiatives. Assist with audits, compliance requirements, and other external reporting needs. Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, controls, and reporting. Assist with implementation of new accounting technologies and systems. Strengthen internal controls and accounting procedures. Help drive efficiencies across the accounting organization. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably within real estate and/or public accounting background with real estate clients. Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting. Experience overseeing or reviewing accounting work performed by others. Demonstrated understanding of full-cycle accounting and month-end close. Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills. Experience with Yardi or another real estate accounting system. Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
