Position Summary

Global Power Products is seeking a Meter Applications & Project Support Specialist to support the continued growth of our electric metering business.

This position will serve as the primary inside resource for meter quotations, application support, project coordination, customer communication, and customized meter projects. The role will work closely with Sales, Engineering, Operations, manufacturing representatives, distributors, contractors, and customers to help move meter opportunities from initial inquiry through quotation, order entry, production, shipment, and startup.

The ideal candidate will have experience with electrical products or systems such as electrical distribution equipment, power monitoring, lighting controls, building automation systems (BAS), energy management systems (EMS), metering, or related electrical controls.

Requirements:

  Primary Responsibilities

Application & Quotation Support

• Review customer requirements, electrical drawings, panel schedules, specifications, and project information.
• Determine appropriate meter configurations, CT quantities and sizes, communications, enclosures, and accessories.
• Prepare meter quotations and bills of material.
• Assist customers and sales representatives with selecting the correct metering solution.
• Identify missing project information and coordinate with customers to obtain required details.
• Review specifications and help determine whether GPP products meet project requirements.
• Support budget quotations, formal project quotations, and product substitutions.

Technical Customer Support

• Respond to technical questions from customers, contractors, distributors, and sales representatives.
• Assist with meter applications involving single-phase and three-phase electrical systems.
• Provide guidance regarding CT selection, meter configuration, Ethernet, Modbus, BACnet, cellular communications, and cloud connectivity.
• Support basic installation and startup questions.
• Coordinate more complex technical issues with Engineering or the meter manufacturer when necessary.
• Help troubleshoot field issues and document resolutions for future reference.

  Project Management

• Serve as the internal point person for active meter projects.
• Track projects from quotation through order, engineering review, production, and shipment.
• Coordinate customer-specific programming, CT ratios, communications settings, enclosures, labeling, and other project requirements.
• Maintain project documentation and communicate status internally and externally.
• Identify potential schedule, technical, or material issues before they delay the project.
• Coordinate project changes and make sure Sales, Engineering, Purchasing, Production, and the customer are working from the same requirements.

  Custom Products / ECR & ECN Coordination

• Prepare and manage Engineering Change Requests for custom meter configurations.
• Clearly document customer requirements and requested product modifications.
• Coordinate with Engineering and Operations throughout the ECR/ECN process.
• Track approvals, drawings, component selections, costs, and required completion dates.
• Maintain records of previously engineered configurations that may be reused on future projects.

  Sales & Representative Support

• Provide day-to-day technical and quotation support for GPP meter representatives.
• Assist new representatives with product selection and application questions.
• Help prepare proposals, submittals, product data, and customer presentations.
• Participate in representative and customer training as needed.
• Maintain follow-up on open quotations and help Sales identify projects requiring additional attention.
• Support the National Sales Manager with larger or more technically complex meter opportunities.

  Order & Production Handoff

• Review meter orders for technical completeness before release to production.
• Confirm meter configuration, CT ratios, communications, accessories, programming, and special requirements.
• Ensure the quoted configuration matches what is entered and ultimately manufactured.
• Coordinate factory programming and configuration requirements.
• Help develop standardized order forms and checklists to reduce errors.

  Documentation & Product Support

• Help maintain meter application guides, quotation tools, configuration worksheets, FAQs, and technical documentation.
• Develop a knowledge base of common meter applications and troubleshooting issues.
• Document recurring customer questions and recommend improvements to manuals, specifications, and training materials.
• Assist with maintaining current product data, pricing, drawings, certifications, and submittal information.

  Cloud & Communications Support

• Assist customers with basic setup and onboarding for cloud-connected meters.
• Help coordinate Ethernet, cellular, Modbus, BACnet, and other communication requirements.
• Support meter registration and customer access to GPP cloud platforms.
• Escalate software or connectivity problems to the appropriate internal or external technical resource.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in the electrical industry, preferably with electrical distribution equipment, metering, switchgear, lighting controls, BAS/EMS systems, power monitoring, or related products.
• Working understanding of single-phase and three-phase electrical systems.
• Ability to read electrical drawings, one-line diagrams, panel schedules, and equipment specifications.
• Familiarity with current transformers, electrical metering, Ethernet, Modbus, BACnet, or building automation systems is highly desirable.
• Strong technical problem-solving ability.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Comfortable communicating directly with electrical contractors, engineers, distributors, sales representatives, and end users.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Experience preparing quotations, bills of material, submittals, or project documentation.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and CRM/ERP systems.
• Ability and willingness to learn GPP meter products, communications platforms, and cloud software.
