Opto/Mechanical Technician

Opto/Mechanical Technician Level 2 Job Summary : Responsible for advanced assembly of optical systems for lasers, laser radars, and electro‑optical sensors and instruments. Location : Irvine, CA. Position Type : full‑time consultant. Schedule: Hours from 10pm – 6:30am; initial training shift 6am‑2:30pm. Compensation : Up to $30/hr base plus 20% differential depending on qualifications and experience, plus selected compensation package. Essential Functions Advanced assembly of optical systems for lasers, laser radars, and electro‑optical sensors and instruments. Follow written procedures or drawings developed by engineers and suggest improvements to optimize production. Assemble and debug systems incorporating optical, mechanical, and electronic components. Test each level of assembly (4‑5 processes) at the system level using laboratory instruments (e.g., interferometer, Zygo). Audit 1‑2 work order kits from warehouse to confirm pieces and part numbers. Prepare subassembly components. Package the final assembly daily (if assembly is completed). Cross training is required (trainee and/or trainer). Minimum Qualifications 2‑4 years of related experience. AA Degree, Technical Certification or equivalent (preferred). Ability to read engineering drawings and blueprints. Experience using measurement instruments (interferometer, Zygo). Experience entering data into Microsoft Excel spreadsheets. Ability to speak, read, and write in English.
