We are looking for an Accounting Supervisor to join our team in Metairie, Louisiana in a contract-to-permanent capacity. The position will play a central role in close activities, financial analysis, cash oversight, and process improvement while partnering with leadership and cross-functional teams.
Responsibilities: • Direct daily accounting operations across the general ledger, payables support, fixed assets, project-related accounting, and intercompany activity. • Manage monthly and quarterly close cycles by coordinating tasks, reviewing deliverables, and ensuring deadlines are met with a high degree of accuracy. • Prepare and approve journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and supporting schedules used in financial reporting. • Produce monthly financial statements, including balance sheet and income statement packages, for leadership review and corporate consolidation. • Analyze revenue, cost activity, and account fluctuations to identify variances, resolve issues, and explain unusual results. • Reconcile operational and project financial data to the general ledger and work with internal partners to investigate and correct discrepancies. • Partner with accounts payable and treasury-related stakeholders to review weekly disbursement activity, cash needs, wire schedules, and related documentation. • Supervise and develop three accounting team members by assigning work, reviewing output, and reinforcing consistent procedures and accountability. • Support audits, tax-related inquiries, and internal control initiatives by organizing documentation, researching accounting matters, and recommending process improvements. • Collaborate with data and business teams to enhance reporting accuracy, improve workflows, and apply technology or automation where it adds value.• 3+ years of accounting experience, including responsibility for month-end close and financial reporting activities. • Strong working knowledge of general ledger accounting, journal entries, account reconciliations, and bank reconciliations. • Experience reviewing accruals, investigating variances, and preparing supporting schedules for financial statements. • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, specifically in creating and maintaining financial spreadsheets utilizing SUM/IF functions, formulas, pivot tables and XLOOKUPS/VLOOKUPS. Proven track record of performing data validations and analyzing large data sets. • Experience with QuickBooks Desktop or other larger ERP systems. • Ability to oversee multiple priorities and meet recurring deadlines in a fast-paced environment. • Prior experience providing guidance, training, or day-to-day oversight to accounting staff. • Solid understanding of internal controls, documentation standards, and audit support practices. • Proficiency in analyzing financial data and resolving discrepancies across accounting and operational records.
