Job Title: Laborer – Mechanical Solar Installation (El Patrimonio)

Job Description

This role supports the mechanical installation of a large-scale solar farm across approximately 3,000 acres. Laborers will be assigned to one of three installation crews—Pile Install, Racking Install, or Module Install—and will contribute to the unloading, staging, assembly, and installation of solar infrastructure in a fast-paced outdoor construction environment.

Responsibilities

• Work as part of a designated crew (Pile Install, Racking Install, or Module Install) to support mechanical installation activities on a large solar farm.
• Assist with unloading trucks carrying piles, racking, and modules using mechanical or racking equipment and coordinate material receipt and staging in the laydown yard.
• Support pile installation by helping lay out pile locations, working with equipment operators to drive piles to GPS coordinates, and using tape measures to verify pile height and placement.
• Carry steel piles from lifts to installation locations repeatedly, lifting at least 25 pounds throughout the day while walking across uneven terrain over large distances.
• Perform racking installation by gathering nuts, bolts, and other hardware, reading blueprints or following foreman instructions for proper assembly, and using power drills and hand tools to torque and secure racking systems.
• Measure distances between racks to confirm alignment and spacing, perform spot quality control checks, and ensure racking is installed according to specifications and daily production goals.
• Support module installation by assisting operators in unloading and moving solar modules from trucks to laydown yards and then to workstations.
• Lift solar modules weighing approximately 25–30 pounds repeatedly at a rapid pace as modules are installed on racks to meet production schedules.
• Place bolts, screws, and other fasteners into appropriate locations to secure modules to racking, and use power drills and hand tools to complete installation safely and efficiently.
• Participate in general construction tasks including earthwork, site clearing, steel pile installation, material handling, cleaning, and waste management.
• Contribute to site maintenance and temporary dust control measures to maintain a safe and organized work area.
• Assist with construction surveying activities and follow layout instructions to ensure accurate installation of solar infrastructure.
• Support cable pulling and electrical-related tasks such as handling PV DC and AC underground electrical feeders, trenching and backfilling, and assisting with combiner box and PV skid AC/DC electrical work under direction.
• Help with DC string wiring and AC trench and backfill activities as needed, following all safety guidelines and instructions from supervisors.
• Assist with PV module handling and installation activities in coordination with commissioning and quality teams.
• Maintain a clean and safe work site by following site maintenance procedures and participating in cleaning and waste management activities.
• Work efficiently to meet daily production targets, adapt to changing priorities, and handle the pressure of a fast-paced construction schedule.
• Walk and work across a large, uneven site for the entirety of the workday while adhering to all safety protocols and instructions.

Essential Skills

• At least 1 year of construction experience in a non-residential environment.
• At least 1 year of experience working outdoors in varying weather and temperature conditions.
• Experience unloading trucks, staging materials, and supporting inventory or material tracking activities.
• Ability to repeatedly lift 25 pounds or more throughout the workday, including lifting 25–30 pound modules at a fast pace.
• At least 1 year of experience using power tools and hand tools such as drills, torque tools, and basic construction tools.
• Ability to read or learn to interpret basic blueprints and follow detailed installation instructions from foremen or supervisors.
• Comfort working on uneven ground and walking long distances across a large project site.
• Capability to work in a fast-paced environment with daily production goals and perform under pressure.
• Strong attention to detail when measuring, aligning, and securing piles, racking, and modules to meet quality standards.
• Reliability and consistency in following safety protocols and site procedures in an active construction environment.

Work Environment

Monday-Friday 7am-5:30pm

This is a Contract position based out of San Antonio, TX.

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $30.00/hr.
