Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Certification and credentialing to teach students who are visually impaired
- Experience working as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) in a school setting
- Thorough understanding of Braille and adapted instructional strategies
- Ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for visually impaired students
- Strong communication skills for collaborating with families, staff, and other support professionals
- Commitment to fostering independence, academic success, and inclusion for students with visual impairments
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instructional support to one visually impaired student
- Design and adapt lesson plans, materials, and classroom environments to ensure accessibility
- Collaborate closely with classroom teachers and related service providers
- Monitor and document student progress, adjusting instructional strategies as needed
- Conduct assessments related to the student’s visual impairment to inform individualized programming
- Advocate for appropriate accommodations and inclusive practices within the school setting
