High Throughput Biology Research Scientist

Vertex Pharmaceuticals seeks a Research Scientist to develop and implement high-throughput human biology assays supporting discovery programs. The role combines cellular and molecular biology expertise with laboratory automation and data analysis to create robust, scalable screening workflows.
Responsibilities
- Develop, optimize, and implement high-throughput assays addressing discovery biology challenges across multiple programs
- Build and operate integrated automation workflows using robotics, liquid handling systems, and computational tools
- Execute screening studies, analyze complex datasets, and translate results into actionable recommendations
- Troubleshoot assay and automation performance; drive improvements in throughput, data quality, and reliability
- Evaluate emerging technologies and implement promising solutions to internal research programs
Requirements
- PhD in relevant scientific discipline with 0–3 years of experience
- Demonstrated expertise in multi-well plate assays, immunoassays, qPCR, and high-content imaging
- Proficiency in Python, R, or MATLAB for data analysis and workflow development
- Hands-on laboratory automation and integrated instrumentation experience
- Strong collaborative skills and rigorous scientific communication abilities
- Experience with AI-enabled scientific workflows or custom computational solutions
Compensation: $105,600–$158,400 base
