Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an ICU position requiring 3 years of ICU experience and a WI or compact RN license.

Details

17-bed Level III Trauma Center ICU within a 136-bed hospital that also serves as a Primary Stroke Center and Level II NICU

Patient population includes sepsis, ETOH, IVDA, OD, SI, delirium, GI bleeds, strokes with TPA, ARF, COVID, and DKA

Surgical patients include general, open abdominal, ortho (total joints), ENT, and OBGYN cases

Cardiac/vascular patients include fempops, CABG, EVAR, valves, post cath (radial and femoral), AAA, and amputations

No complex neuro cases

Patient ratio of 1:2 based on acuity

12-hour night shift schedule (1900-0730), 36 hours per week

Weekend rotation every other weekend

No on-call requirements

May float within scope of practice to intermediate units (1:3), MSU, ED Boarding (1:4), and Observation units (1:4), with travelers floated first

Uses Epic EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Pyxis medication dispensing, and NxStage CRRT equipment

Requirements

Active WI or compact RN license required

BLS and ACLS certifications required; NIHSS preferred

Minimum 3 years of ICU experience required, with most recent experience within the last year

Skilled in vent/trach management, invasive line management (art lines, CVP, Swan-Ganz), drains, chest tubes, foley management, post-surgical recovery, post-cath care, CVVH, and CRRT

Cardiovascular and CV surgery experience preferred, along with IABP and Impella experience

Epic EMR experience preferred

Candidate's middle name or initial, DOB, and last 4 of SSN required for consideration

At least 1 professional reference dated within the last year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN

Additional Information

Supported by CNAs (2 during day, 1 at night), receptionist/HUC coverage 0700-1930, charge nurse, PM ICU Supervisor Monday-Friday, phlebotomy for peripheral IV draws, educator, and 24/7 RT, hospitalist, and intensivist coverage

ICU-specific pharmacist available during day shifts

One day of orientation including badge access and system logins with the educator, a meet and greet with the nurse manager, and the remainder of the shift with a preceptor

Holiday coverage required for 1 holiday per contract

Schedules are built in 4-week increments with RTO approval going through the manager

Scrubs may be any color but no camo, graphics, logos, or designs are permitted

More than 2 sick calls may prompt a discussion and possible contract evaluation or termination
