Mon – Fri. 8am – 5pmProjected duration: 3 months + potential for permJob code: CVDJP00035470Benefits are availableRequires a minimum of 1 year of experienceRole ResponsibilitiesExperience with blood collections, marking specimens, spinning specimens, documenting maintenance details and decontamination, updating patient details, etc. Gathers and retains specimens following established protocols. Clearly and courteously explains the venipuncture (blood drawing) process and/or other specimen collection (e.g. urine or fecal) as needed. Displays techniques using straight needles and/or butterfly needles. Fully comprehends all physician instructions. Matches lab requisition forms to specimen tubes. Labels, spins, splits, freezes specimens per test order. Verifies all test requisitions against scripts for accuracy. Prepares specimens for shipment. Stores specimen samples at required temperature, places them in suitable containers/tubes, labels accurately, follows different transport protocols to maintain sample integrity. Complies with OSHA and DEP regulations. Attends annual department training. Answers phone calls, reads lab results to address inquiries.Minimum RequirementsValid Phlebotomy certification as required by the state of employment in some states. At least 6 months’ experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting. Proficiency in Microsoft Office SuiteHigh School Diploma or GEDMinimum 1 year of experience
