This position reports to the assistant director for student advising services. Responsibilities Sponsored and Exchange Administrative Coordination Manage application and immigration processes as DHS Designated School Official (DSO) and Alternate Responsible Officer (ARO) for sponsored and exchange international students. Oversee critical student information systems, ensuring data integrity, alert management, and cross-system synchronization with strict adherence to University and federal regulations Develop integrated support frameworks that address the unique intersection of sponsored/exchange student needs with broader international student services, ensuring seamless transitions from admission to advising Supervise, mentor, and develop graduate assistant for the student advising team Collaborate strategically with ISSS leadership to ensure precise interpretation and application of immigration regulations and university policies, exercising sound judgment and appropriate initiative Serve as primary resource for challenging exchange and sponsored student questions that require senior-level expertise Strategic Communication and Outreach Serve as liaison with academic departments, undergraduate admissions, graduate admissions, and Education Abroad advising teams, sharing expertise on exchange and sponsored student placement while promoting advising best practices Cultivate and strengthen reciprocal exchange partnerships and maintain relationships with sponsoring agencies through proactive communication on institutional balance, nomination processes, student transitions, and partnership continuity Craft compelling content for websites, presentations, and publications that clearly communicate complex information while maintaining Texas Global branding standards Develop and maintain digital platforms and publications that effectively communicate admission procedures, immigration requirements, and transition support for sponsored and exchange populations Actively contribute to developing the vision for specialized programming that empowers sponsored and exchange students to succeed academically and integrate meaningfully into university life Design and deliver impactful training workshops focused on sponsored and exchange student support for both students and University stakeholders Represent the University in meetings with partners and sponsoring agencies to develop and maintain collaborative relationships. Team and Institutional Support Champion ISSS and Texas Global priorities through active participation in strategic initiatives and community-building events Drive innovation through collaborative participation in staff meetings and working groups focused on enhancing service delivery and institutional impact Support and attend programs that foster a sense of belonging among international students and scholars and to the greater University community Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree and five years of professional experience working with international students in a higher education environment. Experience working with and advising F-1 international students and J-1 exchange visitors. Demonstrated ability to implement creative solutions and take initiative while working as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. Strong skills in professional and intercultural communication and public speaking. Proven capability to multitask and keep projects well-organized and on deadline. Strong computer and technological proficiency. Commitment to high-quality and efficient customer service. Equivalent combination or substitution of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate. Preferred Qualifications Master's degree in international education, higher education administration, or other related field. Experience working with reciprocal exchange students and sponsored students. Significant experience working with Sunapsis database. Salary Range $58,000 + depending on qualifications Working Conditions Work in a shared office environment. Work around standard office conditions. This position is located in Austin, Texas.
