Business Energy Efficiency Portfolio Segment Manager

Customer Energy Solution’s Solution Design and Management team (SDM) is recruiting an Energy Portfolio Segment Manager (Supervisor) to oversee work within the CES Programs Portfolio. Our Portfolio is revisited annually to reflect strategic objectives. It is currently divided into six segments: Residential Energy Efficiency, Business Energy Efficiency, Transportation Electrification, Renewable Energy, Demand Response, and Program Enabling. Each segment is comprised of multiple programs and/or projects. This position will be assigned to the Business Energy Efficiency and Program Enabling segments. In this position, you will provide supervision and leadership to a team of program managers responsible for leading cross functional teams through designing, developing, and managing customer offers aimed at achieving defined business objectives. Key responsibilities include oversight of work planning and budgeting, employee development and performance management, contract negotiation and management, and delivering on assigned outcomes and milestones. You will work with leadership to prioritize and execute strategy recommendations, map and oversee the evolution of offers in response to changing customer needs, and guide program managers to optimize the performance of existing customer programs. You will also ensure that solutions are consistent and leveraged with other City Light, City and Regional offerings. To be successful in this role, you will have experience bridging gaps within organizations, establishing productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders, and engaging in continuous process improvement. This position reports to the Manager of Solutions Design and Management. Key Responsibilities Oversight of Work Planning and Budgeting : manage cross-functional operations; supervise development of workplans; plan and map program transitions and milestones; oversee budget and spend plans; provide technical assistance in portfolio subject areas to other departments. Employee Development and Performance Management : work as part of the PMO leadership team; collaborate to establish standards, tools, materials and training; supervise program managers, foster accountability and effective teamwork in the workplace. Operations Management : create and manage consulting contracts; document policy and legal interpretations; document business outcomes, oversee reporting; monitor status and outcomes, ensure adjustments are made as needed; identify and manage risk; respond to audit and compliance findings. Delivering on Assigned Business Objectives : collaborate with stakeholders to align customer, community and utility values; advance diversity, equity and inclusion efforts in the design and delivery of programs; ensure cross-functional representation and alignment; represent City Light at public and professional events, maintaining relationships with industry and trade associates, and peer utilities. Minimum Qualifications Baccalaureate Degree in Energy Management, Engineering, Architecture or a related discipline and three years experience in professional commercial/industrial energy management analysis, with at least one year of supervisory or lead worker experience (Other combinations of education, training and experience will be evaluated on an individual basis for comparability). Work Environment/Physical Demands Most work is performed in a normal City work or office environment. Work entails visiting commercial and industrial customers and touring their facilities to identify energy conservation opportunities and to conduct inspections. License, Certification and Other Requirements Current Washington State driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility. You must hold a current valid state issued driver’s license from any US state to be verified prior to start date. Out of state license holders will be required to obtain a WA state license within 30 days of hire. Desired Qualifications Three or more years’ experience developing high-performing employees and supervising teams with enterprise-wide cross-functional work responsibilities. Life-cycle management experience involving complex portfolios and adherence to adopted protocol. Experience managing business strategy, risk, and professional services contracts. Experience with stakeholder management, customer engagement, and building strategic partnerships. Strong industry knowledge of demand-side management, distributed energy resources, customer utility programs, rate structures, regulatory considerations, and the layering effect of these components on power operations. Industry certifications such as BPI, CEM, LEED, PgMP, or PMP. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Experience integrating multiculturalism, diversity, and equity into program design and building those skills amongst direct reports. Ability to self-start, apply good judgment, and work collaboratively with very limited supervision. Your participation is required and vital to helping the utility stay prepared and serve our community when it matters most. The full salary range for this position is $66.95 to $78.00 per hour.
