At Fives, we all have a part to play in achieving our common mission. Your role will be: Welds metal parts together, using gas welding and any combination of arc welding processes. Performs related tasks, such as thermal cutting and grinding. Repairs broken or cracked parts, fills holes, and increases size of metal parts. Positions and clamps together components of fabricated metal products preparatory to welding. May locate and repair cracks in industrial engine cylinder heads, using inspection equipment and gas torch. May be required to pass employer performance tests or standard tests to meet certification standards of governmental agencies or professional and technical associations Assembly and welding of laid-out components Bolts, clamps, and tack-welds parts to secure in position for welding Sets up equipment and welds parts using arc, gas-shielded arc, or gas welding equipment Repairs products by dismantling, straightening, reshaping, and reassembling parts Qualifications Proven experience as a welder/fitter: 5-10 years of related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience D1 certification or related certifications preferred Ability to work with mathematical concepts: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals Ability to solve problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization occurs Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form Previous experience in heavy manufacturing Ability to read blue prints High School/GED required One-year certificate from college or technical school preferred Benefits Comprehensive benefits package featuring coverage for the majority of health insurance premiums, along with company-paid life insurance, short-term disability (STD), and long-term disability (LTD) 401(k): 6% match and immediate vesting Paid vacation, sick and volunteer time 12 paid holidays Parental leave Tuition reimbursementTraining and development Company social events … and more!
