Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in a high-acuity ICU setting with nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:2 and 1:1, covering Surgical ICU (Trauma/Neuro/Surgery) and Medical ICU (Medical Cardiac and Overflow) units
• Titrate a wide range of vasoactive, sedation, and analgesic drips including Propofol, Levophed, Vasopressin, Heparin, Insulin, and others per protocol
• Independently interpret cardiac monitor strips using GE monitoring equipment; no monitor technicians are present on the unit
• Care for complex patient populations including Level 1 trauma, CVA, post-TPA, sepsis, ARDS, CABG recovery, TAVR, IABP, Impella, and specialty neuro-surgery cases
• Float between sister ICU units (Surgical ICU, Medical Cardiac ICU, and Overflow ICU) as needed, and to telemetry at a 1:3 or 1:4 ratio
• Participate in self-scheduling while meeting weekend requirements of 3 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule

Required Qualifications

• Active RN licensure in good standing
• Minimum of 3 years of recent ICU experience, with at least 2 of those years in an ICU setting — no exceptions
• Experience must include either neuro or cardiovascular (CV) ICU care
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Must successfully complete a UNA Dysrhythmia Exam prior to acceptance (maximum of 2 attempts, completed within 24–48 hours of offer)
• Must pass a Simulation Lab skills assessment on Day 1 of orientation

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Prior experience in a Level 1 Trauma Center or dedicated neuro ICU environment
• Experience working in a similarly sized high-acuity ICU (30+ beds)
• Familiarity with ventilator equipment including Draeger, Hamilton, Puritan Bennett 840, V60 BiPAP, and Airvo
• Experience with advanced cardiac support devices such as IABP, Impella, ECMO, or Tandem Heart
