About the Department Los Angeles County Department of Health Services (DHS) is the second‑largest municipal health system in the nation, serving 600,000 patients annually and employing over 23,000 staff. Job Summary We are seeking qualified candidates to fill emergency Intermediate Clerk vacancies related to the DOJ Consent Decree. Applicants who meet the requirements may be hired for an initial period of up to 90 days, with opportunity for permanent appointment. Job Definition Intermediate Clerk: Performs specialized clerical duties. Classification Standards Positions report to a supervisory clerk or higher, requiring initiative and independent judgment within policy limits. Essential Job Functions Perform full range of administrative functions of day‑to‑day operations, including creating Excel reports and intricate data entry. Maintain uniform workflow by prioritizing requests and completing rush assignments. Provide clerical support to the unit. Review documents for completeness, accuracy, and compliance. Operate office machines such as PCs, printers, phones, and fax machines. Demonstrate dependability and flexibility in meeting/scheduling unit needs and special projects. Comply with confidentiality and security of sensitive information. Order, maintain, and organize supplies and equipment for unit use. Perform other duties as assigned. Requirements Option I: Six (6) months office clerical experience in County of Los Angeles or under its jurisdiction. Option II: One (1) year office clerical experience outside County of Los Angeles. Option III: Certificate or Associate of Arts in clerical procedures or office administration from an accredited college or university. Additional Requirements Valid California Class C Driver License or alternative transportation method for job‑related functions. Physical Class II – Light: light lifting up to 10 lbs, occasional bending, stooping, or squatting.
