Join a vital healthcare team providing pharmaceutical care within a secure correctional environment. This opportunity is for two licensed pharmacists to support the LA County Correctional Health Pharmacy operations, primarily based at the Twin Towers Jail Pharmacy in downtown Los Angeles. The role offers a unique chance to serve a diverse patient population in a 24/7 jail pharmacy setting, delivering critical outpatient pharmacy services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Dispense and manage medications in a correctional health setting, ensuring safety and compliance.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to optimize pharmacotherapy for incarcerated patients.
- Maintain accurate records and assist with inventory control following institutional protocols.
- Participate in competency evaluations and adhere to security and health clearance requirements.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Active California pharmacist license.
- Minimum of 2 years of retail or outpatient pharmacy experience.
- Ability to pass LACDHS competency testing and undergo required background clearances, including Livescan and employee health screenings.
- Comfortable working in a secure environment and adaptable to varied shifts.
Schedule:
- Evening shift: 2:00 PM to 10:00 PM
- Overnight shift: 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM
- Each shift is 7.5 hours, totaling 37.5 hours weekly.
- The pharmacy operates 24/7, ensuring the need for flexible scheduling.
Location:
- Twin Towers Jail Pharmacy, downtown Los Angeles.
Additional Details:
- This is a long-term, open-ended contract assignment.
- The hiring process includes an interview scheduled for June 19, with document submission required by June 7.
- Candidates will receive a facility tour during the interview to experience the secure and professional environment.
- Contract pharmacists are on payroll with potential to transition into permanent roles within the LA County Department of Health, which offers competitive salary, pension, union support, and career advancement.
